FIRST DAY—Wednesday, January 6, 1915.

The House was called to order at 12 m. by Hon. Cornelius Roach, Secretary of State.

Prayer was offered by Rev. W. O. Dixon, member from McDonald county.

Mr. Houx of Lafayette county placed in nomination for Temporary Speaker Mr. Joshua Barbee of Saline county. There being no further nominations Mr. Barbee was declared elected by acclamation.

Mr. Boyd of Monroe county was appointed a committee to escort the Temporary Speaker to the chair

The Speaker announced the following temporary officers: Baxter Brown of Jackson county, Chief Clerk; R. E. Gunton of Iron county, Assistant Chief Clerk; P. L. Lyles of Shannon county, Doorkeeper, and J. H. Hull of Platte county, Sergeantat-arms.

The Speaker laid before the House the following communication from the Secretary of State:

To the Honorable the House of Representatives of the Forty-eighth General Assembly of the State of Missouri:

Sirs-In compliance with section 5790 of the Revised Statutes of 1909, I have the honor to lay before your honorable body herewith a list of the names of the members of the House of Representatives of the Forty-eighth General Assembly of the State of Missouri elected at the general election held on the 3rd day of November, A. D. 1914, agreeably to the returns of said election on file in my office. Respectfully,
