This volume on The Law of Salesmanship is one of a series entitled, "Life Insurance: Its Economic and Social Relations," which also includes volumes on The Economics of Life Insurance, The Sociology of Life Insurance, Wills, Trusts and Estates, Taxation, Education and Philanthropy, and Saving, Investment and Credit. The purpose of the series is to provide a specialized life insurance literature, in textbook form, in the interest of (1) making available to many business and professional groups one or more books of large practical usefulness; (2) giving to teachers of the social sciences a special literature identifying life insurance with their subjects of specialization; (3) furnishing an opportunity for further systematic study to those who are pursuing the subject of life insurance in universities and colleges; and (4) offering a similar opportunity to those already engaged in the life insurance field.

In this volume the author explains the principles of law that govern the vocational duties and acts of those who serve as the medium between insurers and the public. Life insurance field work comes into intimate contact with court and statutory law. There can be no question as to the advisability of the agent being familiar with his legal responsibilities and powers along the numerous lines that pertain to his daily work, the binding effect of his representations to the insured, and his liability for fraud, questionable practices, and mistakes. It is hoped that this volume will commend itself to those already engaged in the life insurance calling, as well as to students of the subject in our universities and colleges.
