1 Prior to the act of 1897, imports of silk handkerchiefs were recorded only in total. Under the act of 1897, this table includes embroidered handkerchiefs and handkerchiefs made or trimmed with lace; under the act of 1909, it includes those embroidered but not those made or trimmed with lace. Under the act of 1913, it is restricted to handkerchiefs hemstitched or imitation hemstitched, and under the act o 1922, to handkerchiefs hemmed or hemstitched. Imports of these two articles are very small.
