On the question—"Shall this resolution be engrossed, and read a third time ?"

It was determined in the affirmative. The “ Resolution requesting the President of the United States to cause further observations to be made, with a view of ascertaining the longitude of the capitol, in the city of Washington, was read the second time.

The bill entitled “ An act for the relief of George T. Ross, Daniel T. Patterson, and the officers and men lately under their command,” was read the second time.

On motion, Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on naval affairs to consider and report thereon.

The bill entitled “ An act concerning invalid pensioners," was read the second time.

On motion by Mr. Lacock, Resolved, That it be referred to a select committee to consider and report thereon. .

Ordered, That Mr. Lacock, Mr. Morrow, and Mr. Varnum, be the committee.

Mr. Wilson presented the petition of Titus V. Sliter and others, praying pensions, as stated in the petition, which was read.

On motion by Mr. Wilson, Ordered, That it be referred to the committee last mentioned to consider and report thereon.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill entitled “ An act to enable the people of the Mississippi Territory to form a Constitution and State Government, and for the admission of such State into the Union on an equal footing with the original States."

On motion by Mr. Barbour, Ordered, That the further consideration thereof be postponed until the first Monday in July next.
