It was determined in the affirmative.

The "Resolution requesting the President of the United States to cause further observations to be made, with a view of ascertaining the longitude of the capitol, in the city of Washington," was read the second time.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill entitled "An act to enable the people of the Mississippi Terri

tory to form a Constitution and State Government, and for the admission of such State into the Union on an equal footing with the original States."
