The House of Representatives have concurred in the amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled "An act for the relief of William Crawford, Frederick Bates, and William Garrard," to the bill entitled "An act for the relief of Menassah Miner," and also to the bill entitled "An art making appropriations for the support of the military establishment of the United States, for the year 1816."

They disagree to the amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled "An act fixing the compensation of the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and mak

ing a temporary provision for the Clerks in their offices.

They have concurred in the amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled "An act to establish post-roads," except the third, to which they dis

agree.

They have postponed indefinitely, the bill entitled "An act for the benefit of the widow and children of Robert Fulton, deceased." And he withdrew.

The bill fixing the compensation of the chaplains of Congress, was read a second time, and considered as in committee of the whole, and the blank having been filled with 500,"

On the question-Shall this bill be engrossed and read a third time ?"

It was determined in the affirmative.

The bill last mentioned was reported by the committee correctly engrossed.

The amendment to the resolution from the House of Representatives, relative to the adjournment of the present session of Congress, having been reported by the committee correctly engrossed, the resolution was read a third time as amended.

Resolved, That this resqlution pass with an amendment.

Ordered, That the Secretary request the concurrence of the House of Representatives therein.

The President signed the thirty-three enrolled bills and one enrolled resolution last reported to

have been examined, and they were delivered to the committee to be laid before the President of the United States.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill entitled "An act authorizing the Comptroller of the Treasury to cancel certain bonds executed by Casper C. Schutte."

Ordered, That it pass to a third reading.

The bill last mentioned was read a third time by unanimous consent.

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

Mr. Roberts reported from the committee that they this day had laid before the President of the United States, the thirty-three enrolled bills, and the enrolled resolution last reported to have been examined and signed.

The Senate proceeded to consider their amendments to the bill entitled "An act fixing the compensation of the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and making a temporary provision for the clerks employed in their offices," disagreed to by the House of Representatives.

A message from the House of Representatives, by Mr. Dougherty, their Clerk :

Mr. President-The House of Representatives insist on their disagreement to the 1st and 3d amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled "An act fixing the compensation of the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and making a temporary provision for the Clerks employed in their offices."

They have concurred in the amendment of the Senate to the resolution relative to the adjournment of the present session of Congress.

They have passed a bill entitled "An act to allow a drawback of duties on spirits distilled and sugar refined within the United States," a bill entitled "An act making appropriations for carrying into effect a treaty between the United States and the Cherokee tribe of Indians, concluded at Washington on the 22d day' of March, 1816," also a bill entitled "An act supplementary to an act making alterations in the Treasury and War Departments, passed the 8th day of May, 1792," in which bills they request the concurrence of the Senate.

They have passed the bill from the Senate entitled "An act for settling the compensation of the commissioners, clerk, and translator of the board

for land claims in the eastern and western district of the Territory of Orleans, now State of Louisiana," the bill entitled "An act for the relief of John Holkar, formerly consul general of France to the United States," the bill entitled "An act to increase the compensation of the superintendents of the manufactories of arms at Springfield and Harper's Ferry," and also the resolution authorizing the President of the United States to employ a skilful assistant in the corps of engineers. And he withdrew.

The three bills last brought up for concurrence were read.

Ordered, That they severally pass to the secon reading.

The bill entitled "An act to allow a drawback of duties on spirits distilled and sugar refined within the United States," was read the second time by unanimous consent.

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee appointed on so much of the message of the President of the United States as relates to finance and an uniform national currency, to consider and report thereon.

The bill entitled "An act making appropria tions for carrying into effect a treaty between the United States and the Cherokee tribe of Indians, concluded at Washington, on the 22d day of March, 1816," was read the second time by unanimous consent, and
