On motion,

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee on military affairs, to consider and report thereon.

Mr. Barbour, from the committee on military affairs to whom the bill last mentioned was referred, reported it without amendment, and the bill was considered as in committee of the whole : and ;

Ordered, That it pass to a third reading; and The bill was read a third time by unanimous

consent.

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

The Senate proceeded to consider their first and third amendments, disagreed to by the House of Representatives, to the bill entitled "An act fixing the compensation of the Secretary of the Senate, and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and making a temporary provision for the Clerks employed in their offices." Whereupon,

On motion by Mr. King,

Resolved, That they do further insist on their 1st and 3d amendments, and ask a conference on the disagreeing votes of the two Houses.

Ordered, That Mr. King, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Mason, of New-Hampshire, be the managers of the same on the part of the Senate.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

The bill entitled "An act supplementary to a

act making alterations in the Treasury and War Departments, passed the 8th day of May, 1792," was read the second time by unanimous consent, and considered as in committee of the whole, and Ordered, That it pass to a third reading.

It was read a third time by unanimous consent.. Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

Mr. Campbell, from the committee to whom was referred the resolution relative to the more effectual collection of the public revenue, reported it with an amendment, which was read and considered as in committee of the whole; and

Mr. Dana having submitted a further amendment,

On motion by Mr. Mason,

Ordered, That the further consideration of the resolution, together with the amendments, be postponed until Monday next.

A message from the House of Representatives by Mr. Dougherty, their Clerk:

Mr. President The House of Representatives further insist on their disagreement to the 1st and 3d amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled "An act fixing the compensation of the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and making a temporary provision for the Clerks in their offices."

They agree to the conference proposed on the subject, and have appointed managers on their part. And he withdrew.

Ordered, That Dennis de la Rondi, of New-Orleans, in the State of Louisiana; the petitioners, by a number of citizens of the State of Louisiana, in behalf of John de Lassize, of New-Orleans; and also the petitioners in behalf of Jumonville de Villiers and others, have leave to withdraw their petitions and papers, respectively.

On motion by Mr. Roberts,

Ordered, That the committee to whom was referred the message from the President of the United States, recommending the creation of a distinct department for the issuing of patents, be discharged from the further consideration thereof.
