THE ROYAL SERAPHINE.

THIS New, Powerful, and Portable Musical Instrument, combining the qualities of every Concert Instrument, and also of a large Church Organ, is Invented and Manufactured only by T. Green, 33, Soho-square, where alone it is to be seen for sale; any others offered elsewhere are spurious, and the Public is respectfully cautioned that the most fatal imperfections may exist unobserved by the purchaser. For testimony of this Instrument's extraordinary power of remaining in tune in all situations, and under the most trying circumstances, Mr. Green is permitted to publish the following extract of a letter from Mrs. Atkinson, (late Miss Goodall,) on board the Sherburne, Indian Ocean, November 30, 1833.

I have great pleasure in informing you that the Seraphine I took out from England has fully answered every expectation; I have practised upon it every day the weather permitted my doing so, and it has stood well in tune during its transit through the various climates. You are perfectly at liberty to use this testimonial in any way you think proper.'

The form may have varied, but society has seldom arrived at a condition which was much worthy of that name, without something that was, essentially, dramatic representation. It has come as if to answer the call of an instinct of humanity, which could not fail, even in the earlier stages of the social progress, of being sufficiently developed to make the want felt, and therefore to stimulate * Life of Mrs. Siddons, by Thomas Campbell. 2 vols. 8vo.
