THIS work, it is hoped, will be found what it purports to be, a collection of Forms of Legal Instruments suited to the wants of Justices of the Peace, Clerks, Sheriffs, Constables, and the peo ple in the country.
Care has been taken to exclude all such matter as may be considered interesting and important merely to the lawyer: and on the other hand, an effort has been made to present a complete list of Forms of the various Instruments which the people themselves should know how to write, and which, in the course of their business, they are constantly making.
The number of these is much larger than can be found in any Form Book heretofore published in North Carolina; and while it is hoped they will meet the wants and exigencies of the public it is also believed that their accuracy may be relied on. The Forms are not perfect, and are not intended as models for lawyers-it is admitted that they are often not as brief as they might have been, and sometimes contain unne
