Mr. Atherton, from the committee of conference on the part of the Senate on the disagreeing votes of the two Houses on the bill (H. R. 692) making appropriations for the civil and diplomatic expenses of government, for the year ending June 30, 1850, and for other purposes, reported:

"That they have met the committee of conference on the part of the House of Representatives, and, after full and free conference, they could come to no agreement."

Mr. Atherton, from the committee of conference on the part of the Senate on the disagreeing votes of the two Houses on the bill (H. R. 691) making appropriations for the current and contingent expenses of the Indian department, and for fulfilling treaty stipulations with the various Indian tribes, for the year ending June 30, 1850, reported

"That they have met the conferees on the part of the House of Representatives, and after full and free conference, the two committees could come to no agreement."

The Senate proceeded to consider their amendments, amended and disagreed to by the House of Representatives, to the bill (H. R. 691) making appropriations for the current and contingent expenses of the Indian department, and for fulfilling treaty stipulations with the various Indian tribes, for the year ending June 30, 1850; and,

Resolved, That they concur in the amendment of the House of Representatives to the 9th amendment of the Senate; and that the Senate disagree to the amendment of the House to the 10th amendment of the Senate, and recede from their said 10th amendment. Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.
