S. 313. Act to carry into effect certain stipulations of the treaty between the United States of America and the republic of Mexico, of the 2d day of February, 1848.

S. 48. Act for the relief of Peter Capella, administrator of Andrew Capella, deceased; and for the relief of John Capo; and for the relief of Eliza Petty and Hannah Petty, his wife, heirs of John Beardon.

H. R. 695. Act making appropriations for the support of the army for the year ending the 30th June, 1850.

H. R. 764. Act to establish the home department, and to provide for the Treasury Department an assistant Secretary of the Treasury and a commissioner of the customs.

Mr. President: The Speaker of the House of Representatives having signed six enrolled bills, I am directed to bring them to the Senate for the signature of their President.

The President pro tempore signed the six enrolled bills (S. 129, S. 301, S. 313, S. 48, H. R. 695, 764) last reported to have been examined, and they were delivered to the committoe to be presented to the President of the United States.

Mr. President: The House of Representatives concur in the amendment of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 52) for the relief of Charles Binns; they concur in the amendments of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 779) for the relief of James Norris; and they also

concur in the amendment of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 813) to make arrangements for taking the seventh census.

Ordered, That the Committee on Indian Affairs be discharged from all subjects referred to the committee and not reported on. On motion by Mr. Badger,

Mr. Johnson, of Maryland, from the Committee on Naval Affairs, to whom was referred the resolution (H. R. 47) for the purchase of copies of the General Navy Register and Laws, reported the same without amendment.

The Senate proceeded to consider the said resolution as in Committee of the Whole; and no amendment being made, it was reported to the Senate.

Mr. Bradbury, from the Committee of Claims, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 568) for the relief Satterlee Clarke, reported it without amendment.

A message from the House of Representatives, by Mr. Campbell their Clerk:

Mr. President: The House of Representatives concur in the 53d amendment of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 692,) making appropriations for the civil and diplomatic expenses of government, for the year ending the 30th June, 1850, with an amendment, in which they request the concurrence of the Senate; and recede from their disagreement to the other amendments of the Senate thereto.

They have passed the following bills of the Senate:

S. 476. Bill for the relief of Alexander Montgomery, captain and assistant quartermaster of the army.

S. 282. Bill for the better organization of the district court of the United States within the State of Louisiana.

The Senate proceeded to consider the amendment of the House of Representatives to the 53d amendment of the Senate to the bill (H. R. 698,) making appropriations for the civil and diplomatic expenses of the government, for the year ending the 30th of June, 1850.

On motion by Mr. Mason to amend the proposed amendment, by striking out lines 4 and 5, of the 2d section, the words "the existing laws thereof shall be retained and observed and that."

A motion was made by Mr. Yulee that the Senate adjourn; and It was determined in the negative.
