As Digestible as

Mothers' Milk.

Cows' milk modified by the PEPTOGENIC POWDER is just as digestible as mothers' milk,-no more so, the baby has to do the rest.

FAIRCHILD'S PEPTOGENIC MILK POWDER affords the only known method of modifying cows' milk to the standard of human milk.

T IS a difficult matter, in many instances, to recognize, in a diseased condition, what is real and what is the result of our own desires. It requires boldness of thought, as well as mental courage, to attempt to stem a tide which is settling all one way. It gives little encouragement to the conservative mind to be held as too obtuse, if not too obstinate, to grasp so-called advanced or majority ideas. To such an extent is this often carried, that it seems, that what is desired of a consultant is not a careful, conservative, scientific opinion, but rather a daring bold operation, or in other words: blood, and plenty of it.

I am led to make these observations, not from a carping, criticising standpoint, but because in so many different directions in the same field, I am unable to find the conditions which I have heard my colleagues say they find, following them in the same line of thought, study, observation and practice. Having abundant opportunities for investigation, I do not by twothirds find cases which require operation, which if they do not sacrifice life, at least cause irreparable mutilation. Hence I have chosen to place my observations before you, under the idea of the "Errors which are made under the head of Cancer, Ulcers of the Os and Cervix Uteri, etc." It is a curious fact that ever since there has been a reasonably safe surgical method for the removal of these diseased conditions, how lavish Nature has been in scattering them about.
