Ordered, That the Clerk return said bill to the Senate, with a message informing that the Assembly have passed the same.

This being the day assigned by the rules for the consideration of the general orders, the House resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bills entitled as follows:

“An act authorizing the Canal Board to appoint a canal boat inspector at Whitehall, in the county of Washington."

"An act to amend the act entitled 'An act to authorize certain towns in the counties of Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Otsego and Chenango, to issue bonds and take stock in the Utica, Chenango and Susquehanna Valley railroad,' passed April 4, 1866."

"An act to authorize certain towns in the counties of Oneida, Madison and Chenango, to issue bonds and take stock in any company now organized, or that may hereafter be organized, within two years after the passage of this act, for the purpose of building a railroad from Utica through Clinton, Oneida county, to Sherburne, Chenango county."

And after some time spent therein, Mr. Hoyt, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of said first and second mentioned bills, with amendments, the title of the second mentioned amended by adding after the word “amend" the words "section two of;" which report was agreed to, and said bills ordered engrossed and to a third reading.

Mr. Hoyt, from said committee, also reported progress on said third mentioned bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. Hiscock moved that the bill entitled "An act providing for a convention of the people of this State to revise and amend the Constitution," be considered in the first committee of the whole on the next general order day.

Mr. Speaker put the question whether the House would agree to said motion, and it was determined in the affirmative, two-thirds of all the members present voting in favor thereof.

By unanimous consent,

Mr. Millspaugh offered for the consideration of the House a resolution, in the words following, to wit:

Resolved (if the Senate concur), That when this House adjourns on Friday, the 5th inst., it shall be to Monday evening, February 25th, at 71⁄2 o'clock.

Ordered, That said resolution be laid on the table.

Mr. Pool, from the committee on engrossed bills, reported as correctly engrossed the bill entitled as follows:

"An act making an appropriation to provide for a deficiency in the appropriation for the repairs and maintenance of the canals during the fiscal year, commencing on the first day of October, 1866."

Mr. Littlejohn moved that said bill be now read a third time.
