principal and interest of said certificates of indebtedness and bonds, directing the adoption of an annual estimate or budget for the existing Midland avenue drainage district, providing for assessments within such existing Midland avenue district to pay the principal and interest of bonds heretofore issued and the cost of maintaining and repairing said drain and providing for a submission of a proposition as to the exercise of the powers and authorities hereby conferred to the electors of said town qualified to vote on propositions to be voted upon at a special town meeting of said town, was read the third time.

No. 1472) entitled "An act making an appropriation for the support and instruction of State pupils at the Catholic Institute for the Blind in the city of New York, pursuant to the Education Law," which was read the first time and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Downing, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended and said bill ordered to a third reading.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the bill (No. 2035, Rec. No. 496) entitled "An act to amend the General Business Law, in relation to liability of hotelkeepers," which was read the first time and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

Also, a bill (No. 1382, Rec. No. 497) entitled "An act relating to the financing of certain bridges to be constructed between New York and New Jersey by the Port of New York Authority, and making an appropriation therefor," which was read the first time and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

Also, a bill (No. 1860, Rec. No. 498) entitled "An act to amend the Education Law, in relation to standardization of salaries of the teaching and supervising staff in part-time continuation schools. in cities of the first class having a population of a million or more," which was read the first time and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

No. 500) entitled "An act relating to the construction, operation and maintenance of a certain bridge across the Hudson river by the the port of New York authority, purusuant to the port compact or treaty dated April thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twenty-one, and consented to by the Congress of the United States, and the comprehensive plan adopted by the States of New Jersey and New York, consented to and which the Port of New York Authority was authorized and empowered to carry out and effectuate by the Congress of the United States, and making an appropriation for the preliminary work thereon," which was read the first time and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Straus, and by unanimous consent the rules were suspended and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Also, a bill (No. 8, Rec. No. 501) entitled "An act to amend the Canal Law, in relation to the maintenance by the State of highway bridges over canals and canalized waters," which was read the first time and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

A message from the Assembly was received, in the words following:

IN ASSEMBLY, March 26, 1925. Pursuant to concurrent resolution of the Senate and Assembly, the Governor returned the Assembly bill (No. 966, reprint No. 1998, Rec. No. 116) entitled "An act to amend the County Law, in relation to appropriations by boards of supervisors for the use of associations or organizations for the aid of disabled veteran soldiers, sailors and marines of any of the wars of the United States.'

The vote upon the final passage of said bill having been reconsidered, on motion of Mr. Shonk said bill was recommitted to the committee on Internal Affairs with instructions to report the same forthwith, amended as follows:

Page 1, lines 4 and 5, omit the word "forty-seven"; substitute in italics, therefor the word "forty-eight".

Page 1, line 6, omit "47" at beginning of that line, substitute in italics, therefor "48".

Said bill as amended was read the third time and passed, having been printed and upon the desks of the members in its final form at least three calendar legislative days prior to its final passage.
