It is driven by a 225 HP, General Electric, Type L turbine with a Fast Turbo Speed Reducer, having a speed reduction of 2400 to 200, and connected to the pump by a flexible coupling. The unit is also controlled by a pressure pump governor set at a predetermined point and operated at the discharge side of the pump. The pump is also equipped with lantern glands to allow the free circulation of oil through the bearings and back to the suction side of the pump which eliminates all the packing trouble experienced in handling all grades of crude oil. Two of these units have been furnished for the U. S. S. Tank Steamer " Brazos" built at the Boston Navy Yard and four for Tank Steamers No. 17 and 18 for the same yard. Kinney Manufacturing Co.
