The editor of this Journal has known Mr. Hunt for eight years and knows that he has develop. ed an extensive law practice, and we can say that the opportunity here offered any lawyer desiring to locate in Guthrie is a fine one in every sense.

During the year 1909, there were 78 lynchings in the United States. Of these 65 were upon negroes, principally for assault on white women.

"Then it's time you were weaned. Thirty days in Jail without the bottle."

"You Hamericans say we 'ave no 'umor, "said an Englishman, "but I l'ave you understand, sir, that Henglish jokes are not to be laughed at."

A lawyer and a doctor were arguing the merits of their respective professions. "I don't say all lawyers are not straight,' said the doctor, "but you will admit that your profession doesn't make angels of men." "No" retorted the lawyer, "you doctors certainly have the best of us there.-Virginia Law Register.

HOUSE BILL No. 34.

An Act To Provide for the Time of Convening the District Courts in each County in the Several District Court Judicial Districts of the State; and Making Provision for Adjourning the Same; and Declaring an Emergency. Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Oklahoma: Section 1. The time of convening the regular terms of che District Court in each county in the several District Court Judicial Districts of the State shall be on the first Monday in each of the respective months hereinafter set out in this section after each of the respective counties, to-wit

Dist. No. 1.-In Adair county in March and December; In Cherokee county in February and September; In Delaware.county in April and October; In Sequoyah County in January and May.

Dist. No. 2.-In Craig county in March and October; In Mayes county in January and June; In Nowata county in February and September; In Ottawa county in April and November; In Rogers county in May and December. Dist. No. 3.-In Muskogee county in February, May, September and November; In Wagoner county in January April, July and October.

Dist. No. 4.-In McIntosh county in March, August and December; In Pitsburg county in January, May and October.

Dist. No. 5.-In Haskell county in June and December; In Latimer county in March and October; In Le Flore county in April and November; In Pushmataha County In February and September.

PROVIDED, this Act shall not affect any order heretofore made by the Supreme Court under the authoity of the constitution fixing the time of convening of any district court in this State covering that period of time prior to the first day of May, in the year nineteen hundred and ten.

The regular term of any District Court may be adjour. ned from time to time, or sine die, by a resident judge of the District Court or any other District Judge assigned and holding court in such district, but such adjournment shall be to a time prior to the convening of the next regular term.

The regular judge, or any judge assigned, may make all orders with reference to the adjournment of the term. Special terms of the District Court in any county in a district may be called, by the resident judge of said district, by order entered of record in such court, notice of such special term to be given in at least two consecutive issues of a weekly newspaper published and of general circulation in such county, prior to the convening of such special term.

If the judge of any district court fail to attend at the ime and place appointed for convening the regular term of the district court, the sheriff of the county shall have power to adjourn the court, from day to day, until the judge, or the judge assigned, appear, as provided by law; or a judge pro tem be selected. But if the judge be not present in his court, or judge assigned, or judge pro tem be not selected within two days after the first day of the term, then the court shall stand adjourned for the term. Two or more district judges may sit and hold court at the same time in the same county during term time.

Regular terms, or adjourned terms of the court in two or more counties in the same judicial district shall proceed until the same are adjourned sine die.

Section 3. An Emergency is hereby declared, by reason whereof it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace and safety, that this Act take effect on and after the first day of April in the year Nineteen hundred and ten.
