Mr. Coggeshall offered the following:

Whereas, It is alleged that imitation and adulterated butter, suine and oleomargarine butter, and adulterated dairy products, etc., are manufactured and sold in violation of law; and,

Whereas, Such sales are injurious to producers and dealers in dairy products, and injurious to the public; and,

Whereas, It is of vital importance to the honest and legitimate producers and dealers in the products of the dairy, and, also, necessary for the better preservation of the public health that such sales be stopped therefore, be it

Resolved, That the standing committee on public health be, and it is hereby, directed and empowered to investigate the alleged illegal manufacture and sales of imitation and adulterated dairy products, etc., and the effect of the sale and use of the same on the public health, with power to send for persons and papers. Said committee is hereby authorized to employ a stenographer, experts and such counsel as it may deem necessary for thorough discharge of the duties hereby im. posed; and the committee shall have full power to extend the investigation to any and all manufacture and sales of any and all imitation and adulterated drink and food; and it shall report its conclusions, together with such recommendations as it may deem proper upon the subject.

Mr. Comstock introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act supplemental to chapter 328 of the Laws of 1880, entitled An act to establish and maintain a police force in the city of Troy, and chapter 76 of the Laws of 1881, entitled An act to amend chapter 328 of the Laws of 1880, entitled An act to establish and maintain a police force in the city of Troy,'" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on cities.

Mr. Kiernan introduced a bill entitled "An act to enable corporations whose object is the education of children, including those unable to pay therefor, and visiting and assisting the poor, to establish an educational department of such corporations," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on miscellaneous corporations.

Mr. Murphy, by request, introduced a bill entitled "An act to establish the Medical Faculty of the University of the State of New York, to regulate the licensing of practitioners of physic and surgery, and to further regulate the practice of physic and surgery," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on miscellaneous corporations.

Mr. Gibbs introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 410 of the Laws of 1882, entitled 'An act to consolidate into one act and

to declare the special and local laws affecting public interests in the city of New York,' ,"" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on cities.

Mr. Baker introduced a bill entitled "An act in relation to railroad fares, "which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on railroads. Also, a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 917 of the Laws of 1869, entitled 'An act authorizing the consolidation of certain railroad companies,"" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on railroads.

Mr. Esty, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Kiernan, Int. No. 69, entitled "An act to amend chapter 409, Laws of 1882, entitled 'An act to revise the statutes of this State relating to banks, banking and trust companies,' passed July 1, 1882," reported the same for the consideration of the Senate, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

On motion of Mr. Esty, it was ordered that said bill, when printed, be recommitted to the committee on banks.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Comstock, Int.
