Mr. Robb offered the following:

Resolved, That the Attorney-General be requested to report to the Senate, within one week from this date, whether in his opinion, the parties now claiming to act as captain of the port, and harbor masters of New York, are legally holding such positions, and whether they are entitled to receive any compensation for services claimed to have been rendered to the State since May 24, 1883.

Mr. Ellsworth moved to refer said resolution to the committee on commerce and navigation.

Resolved (if the Assembly concur), That the time for the commission appointed to treat with the Onondaga Indians in which to make a report of their proceedings to the Legislature be extended until the 1st day of March, 1884.

Mr. Robb introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to secure to children the benefit of elementary education, passed May 11, 1874, and amended by chapter 373 of the Laws of 1876,” which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on literature.

Mr. Thomas offered the following:

Resolved, That Senate bill, Int. No. 103, entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to prevent the adulteration of milk, and to prevent the traffic in impure and un wholesome milk,' passed April 23, 1862," be printed.

Add the following as section 2:

“§ 2. It shall be lawful for the commissioners appointed under the act hereby amended to authorize the incorporation of more than one company for the purpose of constructing, maintaining and operating the railway or railways therein mentioned.”

On motion of Mr. Daggett, the Senate adjourned.
