Mr. Thomas, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Murphy, Int. No. 324, entitled "An act changing the name of 'The Broadway Underground Railway Company,' and extending and supplementing the rights, powers and duties heretofore possessed, conferred and imposed upon said company," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and the title amended so as to read as follows: "An act extending and supplementing the rights, powers and duties heretofore possessed, conferred and imposed upon the Broadway Underground Railway Company," which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Daly, Int. No. 63, entitled "An act to amend chapter 410 of the Laws of 1882, entitled 'An act to consolidate into one act and to declare the special and local laws affecting public interests in the city of New York,'" reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Robb, Int. No. 245, entitled "An act to regulate the height of dwelling-houses in the city of New York," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on cities, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Daly, Int. No. 150, entitled "An act to amend chapter 410 of the Laws of 1882, entitled 'An act to consolidate into one act and to declare the special and local laws affecting public interests in the city of New York,'" reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Daggett, from the committee on engrossed bills, reported as correctly engrossed the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to authorize the city of Kingston to borrow money."

"An act to authorize the president and trustees of the village of Hamilton, Madison county, to purchase real property for the purpose of promoting the public health of said village, and for village fire purposes, and to borrow money on the credit of said village for such pur

poses.

Mr. Comstock introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend section 2 of chapter 8 of the Laws of 1816, entitled 'An act to confirm the sale of certain common lands made by the trustees of the village of Lansingburgh, and to provide for the fund therein mentioned," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on villages.

Also, a bill entitled "An act to provide for the erection of certain public buildings in the city of Troy, and to authorize the said city to borrow money for the payment of expenses incurred in the erection of such buildings," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on cities.

Mr. Low introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend section 7, part 1, title 4, chapter 8 of the Revised Statutes of this State in relation to the State Treasurer," which was read the first time, and by

unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Also, a bill entitled "An act appointing a trustee of the Liberty Normal Institute," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on literature.

Mr. Daly introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 410 of the Laws of 1882, entitled 'An act to consolidate into one act and to declare the special and local laws affecting public interests in the city of New York,'" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on cities.

Mr. Daggett introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 203 of the Laws of 1881, entitled 'An act to authorize the burial of the bodies of any honorably discharged soldier or marine who shall hereafter die without leaving means sufficient to defray funeral expenses,' "" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on militia.

Also, a bill entitled "An act relating to the Fourteenth Street Ferry Company," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

Mr. Titus introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend the Code of Civil Procedure," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Plunkitt introduced a bill entitled "An act to authorize the construction of gas works and the manufacture and sale of gas, for the purpose of lighting the streets, roads and avenues, parks and buildings in the twenty-third and twenty-fourth wards of the city of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on cities.

Mr. Kiernan introduced a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 659 of the Laws of 1881, entitled 'An act in relation to the appointment and dismissal of court officers in each of the courts of record of Kings county, and to fix the salary of the official stenographers of the Supreme Court of said county,' and also to amend the title thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary. The bill entitled "An act to authorize the city of Kingston to borrow money," was read the third time.

Mr. Thomas moved to reconsider the vote by which said bill was passed.

On motion of Mr. Thomas, and by unanimous consent, said bill was amended as follows:

Section 1, strike out the words "said act," and insert "chapter 127 of the Laws of 1860, entitled 'An act to organize a fire department in the village of Delhi, Delaware county.""

Line 3, strike out "§ 1" and insert "§ 5."

Said bill, as amended, was then read the third time.

The bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 299 of the Laws of 1883, entitled 'An act to provide for the enrollment of the militia, for the organization and government of the National Guard of the State of New York, and for the public defense, and entitled the Military Code.'"

On motion of Mr. Robb, and by unanimous consent, said bill was amended as follows:

Section strike out "four per cent" and insert "three per cent." Mr. Gibbs moved to recommit said bill to the committee on militia, with instructions to amend by adding, at the end of section 3, the following:

"§ 3. The said board shall first construct a suitable armory for that regiment in the city of New York, making demand as provided in this act, which the Inspector-General of the State shall certify has had the highest standing and the largest aggregate percentage of attendance during the four years last past."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the negative.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the third time.
