Chap. 496.

AN ACT to release to Catharine Chadwick, the interest of the State of New York in certain moneys arising on a sale of real estate now held by the Surrogate of Oneida county.

Passed May 1, 1868; by a two-thirds vote. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Catharine Chadwick, of Liverpool, England, is hereby authorized and empowered, in the same manner as though she were not an alien, to receive from the surrogate of Oneida county, through her attor ney or assigns, the monies in his hands, arising on the sale of certain real estate devised to her by the last will and testament of her brother, Edward E. Jones, deceased, late of Floyd, in said county.

§ 2. Nothing in this act contained shall be held or construed to affect the rights of any other grantee, devisee or heir-at-law, or any purchaser or creditor. 3. This act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to enable the First Free Methodist
Church in the city of Syracuse to elect trus-

tees.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The First Free Methodist Church, in the city of Syracuse, shall continue as a corporate body, and possess the same powers as a religious corporation which it possessed when organized under the general statutes for the formation of religious corporations. AN ACT to amend an act entitled "An act to amend the charter of the village of Newark," passed April second, eighteen hundred and sixty-four.

Passed May 1, 1868; three fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Subdivision fourteen of section four of title four of an act entitled "An act to amend the charter of the village of Newark," passed April second, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

It shall not be necessary to make any other demand of payment of said taxes.
