After Sackett street shall have been opened, so much thereof as lies eastward from Prospect Park shall be under the exclusive control and management of the said park commissioners, and they shall make and enforce proper rules and regulations for the public use thereof. And after it shall have been improved, as hereinbefore directed, its subsequent maintenance shall be provided for in the same manner as the public parks now under the charge of the said park commissioners are provided for. 12. This act shall take effect immediately. Chap. 632. AN ACT to amend an act entitled "An act to establish fire limits, and for the more effectual prevention of fires in the city of Brooklyn," passed April thirty, eighteen hundred and sixty-six. Passed May 6, 1868; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows: SECTION 1. The superintendent of buildings, of said department, shall be an exempt fireman of the fire department and inspec. of the western district of the city of Brooklyn for the past five years prior to such appointment, and also shall have been a fire underwriter for ten years before his appointment shall pass an examination before a committee on examination appointed by the said board of trustees, and shall furnish a certificate of such examination, signed by said committee, certifying to his knowledge and com petency to perform all the duties of such office, and the inspectors shall be exempt firemen of the fire department of the western district of the city of Brooklyn. such su dent. § 4.
