For the compensation of the pages to the senate and house of representatives, a sum not exceeding sixty-one hundred and twenty dollars.

For the compensation for travel of the pages to the senate and house of representatives, a sum not exceeding one thousand dollars.

For the compensation of the chaplains of the senate and house of representatives, twelve hundred dollars.

For authorized expenses of committees of the present general court, including clerical assistance to committees authorized to employ the same, a sum not exceeding thirteen thousand dollars.

For expenses of advertising hearings of the committees of the present general court, including expenses of preparing and mailing advertisements to the various newspapers, a sum not exceeding six thousand dollars.

For expenses of summoning witnesses, and for fees of such witnesses, a sum not exceeding two hundred dollars.

For printing and binding ordered by the senate and house of representatives, or by concurrent order of the two branches, a sum not exceeding fifty-eight thousand dollars.

For printing and binding the manual for the general court, under the direction of the clerks of the senate and house of representatives, a sum not exceeding fifty-four hundred dollars.

For expenses in connection with the publication of the bulletin of committee hearings, a sum not exceeding nine thousand dollars.

For stationery for the senate, purchased by the clerk, a sum not exceeding eight hundred dollars.

For stationery for the house of representatives, purchased by the clerk, a sum not exceeding one thousand dollars.

For contingent expenses of the senate and house of representatives, and necessary expenses in and about the state house, a sum not exceeding nine thousand dollars.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.

The sums hereinafter mentioned are appropriated, to be paid out of the treasury of the commonwealth from the ordinary revenue, for the department of the tax commissioner and commissioner of corporations, for the fiscal year ending on the thirtieth day of November, nineteen hundred and sixteen, to wit:

For the salary of the tax commissioner and commissioner of corporations, five thousand dollars.

For the salary of the deputy commissioner, three thousand dollars.

For the salary of the second deputy commissioner, three thousand dollars.

The sum of forty-four thousand dollars is towns for loss hereby appropriated, to be paid out of the treasury of the commonwealth from the ordinary revenue, for reimbursing cities and towns for loss of taxes on land used for public institutions, during the fiscal year ending on November thirtieth, nineteen hundred and sixteen, as provided by chapter six hundred and seven of the acts of the year nineteen hundred and ten, by chapter four hundred and seventyeight of the acts of the year nineteen hundred and eleven, and by chapter six hundred and forty-eight of the acts of the year nineteen hundred and fourteen.

A sum not exceeding five thousand dollars is hereby appropriated, to be paid out of the treasury of the commonwealth from the ordinary revenue, for the payment by the treasurer and receiver general of premiums on securities purchased for the Massachusetts School Fund, as provided by section three of chapter forty-one of the Revised Laws.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
