41. [SEC. 3912.] The Governor, at the expense of the State, shall procure or cause to be procured, one complete set of copper weights, to correspond with weights of their like denomination used by the revenue officers of the United States in their offices, together with scales for said weights, and a stamp or seal, with such device as the Governor may deem proper; as also one complete set of measures, calculated for dry, liquid and long measures, of the same capacity and length as those of their like denomination used by such revenues officers aforesaid; which set of weights and measures, together with the scales and stamps, shall be deposited in the office of the Secretary of State, to serve as a general standard of weights and measures in this State.

42. [SEC. 1.] The present Recorder of Births and Deaths for the parish of Orleans, and his successors in office, shall hereafter be known as the Recorder of Births, Marriages and Deaths for the parish of Orleans. He shall take an oath before any competent authority faithfully to perform all the duties imposed upon him by law for the registry of births, marriages and deaths, a duplicate or a certified copy whereof he shali transmit to the Secretary of State, who shall keep the same on file in his office.

CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS.

ART. 93. There shall be a Sheriff and Coroner elected by the qualified electors of each parish, except the parish of Orleans. In the parish of Orleans, there shall be elected by the qualified electors of the parish at large, one Sheriff for the Criminal Court, who shall be the executive officer of said court, and shall have charge of the Parish Prison. There shall also be elected, by the qualified electors of the parish at large, one Sheriff, who shall be the executive officer of the Civil Courts, and who shall perform all other duties heretofore devolving upon the Sheriff of the parish of Orleans, except those herein delegated to the Sheriff of the Criminal Court. The qualified Two Coroners electors of the city of New Orleans, residing below the middle of for the city of New Orleans Canal street, shall elect one Coroner for that district; and the qualiand parish of Orleans. fied electors of the city of New Orleans, residing above the middle of Canal street, together with those residing in that part of the parish known as Orleans, right bank, shall elect one Coroner for that district. All of said officers shall hold their office for two years, and receive such fees of office as may be prescribed by law.

1. [SEC. 3538.] The Sheriff of the parish of Orleans shall give bond in the sum of fifty thousand dollars with two securities, as required by law; and in all other parishes the Sheriff shall, in like manner, give bond in the sum of six thousand dollars, with the following conditions, to wit:

"Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas, the above bound A. B. has been elected or appointed Sheriff of the parish of -; now, if the said A. B. shall well and faithfully execute and make true returns, according to law, of all such writs, orders and process as shall come into his hands, as Sheriff aforesaid, and well and truly pay over all sums of money that shall come into his hands, as Sheriff aforesaid, to the person entitled by law to the same, and shall faithfully do and perform all such other duties
