Mr. Cook moved to amend the resolution by striking out all of the resolution except that which relates to newspapers and the Governor.

Mr. Cook called for the yeas and nays.

The amendment was not agreed to, by yeas and nays as follows:

Mr. Clubb moved to amend by adding to the resolution the words "Provided, there shall be no extra charge for composition."

Mr. Dewey accepted the amendment.

The resolution as amended was then adopted.

Mr. Cook offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the State Treasurer be requested to inform the Senate the amount of money now in the Treasury, where deposited, if in banks, what banks, the amount in each, and security given for safe keeping.

Mr. Richardson raised the point of order that the Governor having convened the Legislature in extraordinary session to consider the work of the Cot stitutional Commission, and having submitted no other subject or subjects of any kind in his special message, therefore the consideration or discussion of all matters that do not pertain to the question submitted by special message, is out of order.

The President ruled that the point of order was not well taken.

The resolution was then adopted.

Mr. Cook offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Auditor General be requested to inform the Senate the amount of specific tax paid into the Treasury for the year 1873, and the probable amount that will be received for the year 1874.

Mr. Gray moved that the resolution be laid on the table.

Resolved, That the committee on printing be instructed to inquire and report the reasons for the delay in publishing the annual reports of the several State officers for the fiscal year ending September 30th, 1873.

Mr. McGowan offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Secretary be instructed to furnish five hundred extra copies of the daily proceedings of yesterday containing the Governor's Message, for the use of the Senate.

The resolution was adopted.

Mr. Dewey offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That 300 extra copies of the daily journal be furnished by the Secretary for the use of the Senate.

Mr. DeLand moved that the further consideration of the resolution be indefiniteby postponed.

Mr. DeLand moved that the Senate take a recess until 7 o'clock this evening. Mr. Dewey moved that the Senate adjourn.

SIR-At the close of the late session of the Legislature, supposing that my engagements would be such that I could not well attend a special session, should one be called, I tendered my resignation as reporter of the Senate. The resignation was laid on the table without being accepted. Under a changed state of circumstances from what I then anticipated, I herewith respectfully ask leave to withdraw my resignation.

Mr. King moved to take from the table the following resolution:

Resolved, That the standing rules of the Senate be amended by adding two additional members to the committee on the judiciary, such persons to be named by the chair;

Which motion prevailed.

The question being on the adoption of the resolution, pending the taking of the vote thereon,

Mr. King moved to amend the resolution so as to read as follows:

"Resolved, That two members be added to the committee on the judiciary;" Which was agreed to.

The resolution, as amended, was then adopted.

SIR-I am instructed by the House to transmit the following concurrent resolution :

Resolved (the Senate concurring), That the State printer be instructed to transmit to each of the newspapers in the State, to the Judges of the Supreme Court, circuit and probate courts, and the superior court of Detroit, the State officers, and to the clerks of each of the several counties in the State, one copy of the journal of the Senate and House of Representatives, during the present 'extra session;

Which has passed the House, and in which the concurrence of the Senate is respectfully asked.
