Obras de arte, dibujos, grabados, fotografías y aparatos científicos, traidos del extranjero por artistas profesionales, lectores ó hombres de ciencia, para usar temporalmente para exhibición y para fomentar arte, ciencia ó industria, y no de venta. 744. Obras de arte, colecciones para ilustrar el progreso de arte, ciencia ó de manufacturas, fotografias, obras en barro cocido, Páros, loza ó porcelana y copias de antigüedades, de metal ó otro material, importadas para exhibición permanente por cualquiera sociedad ó institución establecida para fomentar las artes ó ciencia, y todos objetos semejantes importados para el objeto de erigir un monumento público, y no de venta.

REGLAMENTOS DE RECIPROCIDAD.

747. Despues del 1o de Enero de 1892 en cualquier tiempo que conste al Presidente cierto que el Gobierno de cualquier país productor y exportador de azúcar, melaza, café, té y cueros al pelo, ó cualquier de estos artículos, impone derechos ú otros impuestos sobre los productos de los Estados Unidos, los cuales juzge ser reciprocamente injusto ó excesivo, tendrá el poder, y será su deber, suspender la introducción libre de tal azúcar, melaza, té. café y cueros, y en tal caso los artículos ya mencionados pagarán los derechos siguien

tes:

Todo azúcar de color no encima de No 13 del dechado de Holanda, todos sedimentos de tanques, jarabes de zumo de caña ó de remolacha y melaza concentrada que no pasen de 75 grados del polariscopio, de un centavo la libra y por cada grado adicional ó fracción de un grado 18 de un centavo la libra.

Azúcar superior en color al n.o 13 del dechado de Holanda, y no al n.o 16, 18 centavos la libra.

Azúcar superior al n.o 16 y no más de No. 20, 1 centavos la libra.

Azúcar superior al n.o 20, 2 centavos la libra. Melaza de más de 56 grados, 4 centavos el galón.

Chorreos de azúcar y barreduras de azúcar pagarán un derecho como azúcar ó melaza, conforme á la prueba de polariscopio. Café, 3 centavos la libra. Té, 10 centavos la libra. Cueros al pelo, secos ó salados, pieles de cabra de Angora crudos, sin pelo y sin manufacturar, cueros de asno, crudos y sin manufacturar y cueros al pelo, á excepción de zaleas, 1 centavos la libra.

ARTÍCULOS NO ESPECIFICADOS— 748. Todos artículos crudos, en bruto ó sin manufacturar, no mencionados en esta ley, pagarán diez por ciento ad valorem. 749. Todos artículos manufacturados en todo ó en parte, no especificados en esta ley, pagarán veinte por ciento.

Works of art, drawings, engravings, photographs, and scientific apparatus brought by professional artists, lecturers, or scientists from abroad for use temporarily for exhibition and for the encouragement of art, science, or industry in the United States, and not for sale.

Works of art, collections to illustrate the progress of art, science, or manufactures, photographs, works in terra-cotta, parian, pottery, or porcelain and copies of antiquities, in metal or other material, imported for permanent exhibition by any society or institution established to encourage the arts or science, and all similar objects imported for the purpose of erecting a public monument, and not for sale.

RECIPROCITY REGULATIONS.

On and after January 1, 1892, whenever the President shall be assured that the Government of any country which produces and exports sugar, molasses, coffee, tea, and hides, raw and uncured, or any of those articles, imposes duties or other taxes upon the products of the United States which he may deem to be reciprocally unjust or unreasonable, he shall have the power, and it shall be his duty to suspend the free introduction of such sugar, molasses, tea, coffee, and hides, and in such case the above-named articles shall pay the following duties:

All sugar not above No. 13 Dutch standard in color, all tank bottoms, sirups of cane juice or of beet juice, melada, and concentrated molasses, testing by the polariscope not above 75 degrees,

of one cent per pound, and for every additional degree or fraction of a degree of one cent per pound.

Sugar above No. 13 Dutch standard in color and not above No. 16, 18 cents per pound.

Sugar above No. 16 and not above No. 20, 1§ cents per pound.

Sugar above No. 20, 2 cents per pound. Molasses testing above 56 degrees, 4 cents per gallon.

Sugar drainings and sugar sweepings shall be subject to duty either as molasses or sugar, as the case may be, according to polariscopic test. Coffee, 3 cents per pound.
