Chap 13. AN ACT to amend an act entitled “An act to

incorporate Vassar Female College," passed January twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred and sixty-one. ·

Passed February 1, 1867. The People of the State of New York, represented in Sanaté and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The corporate name of “Vassar Female College.” a college incorporated by chapter two of asion Laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-one, is bereby changed to “ Vassar College,” by which name it shall hereafter be called and known.

32. This act shall in nowise affect said act of incorporation, except in the pame; por shall it affect any rights or powers of the Vassar Female College; Dor shall it impair or affect any claim or demand against it, or any of its liabilities. . 33. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap 14. AN ACT authorizing the town of Cortlandt, in the

county of Westchester, to borrow money and to levy taxes for the payment of the same.

Passed February 1, 1867; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The board of town auditors of the town of Cortlandt, are hereby anthorized, on the faith and credit of said town, to borrow three thousand five hundred dollars, and to execute either bonds or promissory notes, therefor, in such manner as may be provided by resolution of said board. The said sum, or any part thereof, may be borrowed by the said board of town auditors, from any person or persons, banking or savings institution, on the best terms that the same can be obtained, at an interest not exceeding

seven per cent per annum, payable on or before the first day of March, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight

$ 2. The sum hereby authorized to be borrowed shall be applied and appropriated to the repaymeni to the trustees of the village of Peekskill, in said town, of the moneys appropriated and expended by them for the building of the jail in said village.

S 3. The board of supervisors, of the county of Westchester, are hereby authorized and directed to cause to be levied and collected in and by said towi of Cortlandt, the said sum of three thousand five hundred dollars and the interest thereon, at the time and in the manner of the collection of the genera tax for the year eighteen hundred and sixty-seven and the same shall be paid over to the supervisor of said town, who shall apply the same to the payment of said bonds or notes and the interest thereon.

$ 4. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 15.
AN ACT to authorize the Supervisors of the county

of Albany to borrow money on the credit of th
county. .

Passed February 1, 1867; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented ir Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The treasurer of the county of Alban; is bereby authorized, under the direction of the boar

| Chap 16. AN ACT authorizing the Village of Peekskill, to

borrow more money and to levy taxes for the payment of the same.

Passed February 1, 1867, three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Saate and Assembly, do enact as follows : :

SECTION 1. The board of trustees of the village of Peekskill are hereby authorized, on the faith and credit of said village, to borrow a sum not exceeding the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars, and to amount execute either bonds or promissory notes therefor, may borander the corporate seal of said village and the signature of the president and clerk thereof; the bonds or Bonds. promissory potes to be in such form, and the principal and interest made payable at such times and places as may be agreed upon with the lender or lenders, but so that no more than five hundred dollars of the principal shall be payable before tbe year eighteen

$ 2. The said sum hereby authorized to be borrow shall be specifically applied and appropriated to t completion of the fire engine house and jail, in sa village, now in process of erection, and to the furnis ing of said jail.

§ 3. The said sum or any part thereof, may borrowed by the board of trustees of said villag from any person or persons, or banking or savin institution, on the best terms that the same can obtained, at an interest not exceeding seven per ce per annum, payable yearly or half yearly as may agreed upon by said trustees, and the lender lenders from whom said money may be obtaine and it shall be, and hereby is made the duty of sa board of trustees, and they are hereby authorized raise by tax upon the real and personal property the said village, in the same manner and at the sar time that the general taxes of said village are levi and collected in the years eighteen hundred and sixt pine, eighteen hundred and seventy, and eighter bundred and seventy-one, not to exceed five hundri dollars in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-nin and one thousand dollars annually in each of the oth of said years, and also the interest accruing thereo and to pay over the same in discharge of said lo: or portions thereof, and the interest thereon.

Chap 17.
AN ACT to authorize the town of Johnstown, in

the county of Fulton, to issue town bonds, and
loan the same to the Fonda, Johnstown and Glo-
Tersville Railroad Company, and to regulate the
rate of charges for carrying passengers upon said
road.

Passed February 1, 1867; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in &nate and Assembly, do enact as follows :

SECTION 1. Upon the application of ten freeboldes and residents of the town of Johnstown, in the county of Fulton, made to the county judge of County

it shall be his duty, within ten days after such appli- sio cation shall be so made, to appoint three persons, who shall be freeholders and residents of said town, to be railroad commissioners of said town of Johnstown, and to fill all vacancies that shall occur, from time to time, in the office of such commissioner, by the expiration of the term of office or otherwise, by like appointments. All such appointments shall be in writing, and filed in the office of the clerk of Fulton county. Such commissioners shall hold their office Terms of spectively for five years, and until their successors shall be appointed, and duly qualified by giving security, as required by this act.

3 2. Before entering upon the duties of their office, sneh commissioners shall jointly and severally, with two or more sureties, execute to the supervisor of said town, for the benefit of said town, a bond in the Bonds of peual sum equal to twenty per cent of the value of sioners. the taxable property of said town appearing upon the assessinent roll of said town for the year eighteen bandred and sixty-six, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of such office, and for the just and honest application of all bonds issued by them under the provisions of this act, according to the true intent and meaning of its provisions, and
