a body corporate by the name and description of Gooderson Fire Engine Company Numbertwo, of Win- Corporate field, Queens county, New York, and by that name they and their successors may and shall have perpetual succession, and shall be persons in law capable of suing and being sued in all courts and places whatsoever, in all manner of actions, suits, complaints and causes whatsoever; and also that they or their successors shall be, in law, capable of purchasing, holding and conveying any estate, real or personal, necessary for the purpose of extinguishing fires, and the preservation of the engine, hose, ropes, apparatus, tools and implements of said corporation to the amount of three thousand dollars.

32. The said corporation shall have full power to Powers. make and establish such by-laws, rules and regulations as they from time to time shall think proper, as to their officers, the time, place and manner of electing them, and as to the period of their continuance in office, and as to their powers and duties; also as to the election of members, and as to their government, with and in regard to all the purposes for which said body corporate is constituted.

33. Said corporation shall have full power and authority to nominate and appoint a sufficient number of persons, not exceeding sixty, to have the care, No. of management, working and using the apparatus and remen, &o all the implements belonging to said corporation, who shall be ready, at all times, to assist in the extinguishment of fires; and further, that the said corporation, or a majority of them, shall have power from time to time to remove any persons appointed as aforesaid, when and as often as they think proper, and to appoint others to fill vacancies occasioned by removal or otherwise.

34. Each and all the persons appointed members of said company, under section one of this act, and their successors, who shall serve as such members, and any officers or trustees they may elect, shall be, during the time of their service, exempt from serving as jurors in courts of record, and the ordinary military duty in time of peace.

35. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 27.

AN ACT to enable the towns of Rutland and Le Ray, in the county of Jefferson, to raise money for building a bridge.

Passed February 7, 1867; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The commissioners of highways, or a majority of them, in each of the towns of Rutland and Le Ray, in the county of Jefferson, shall, at least ten days before the next annual town meeting, post five notices in the most public places in town, setting forth that on the day of the annual town meeting, at twelve o'clock, at noon, the question will be submitted to the electors of the towns aforesaid, whether they will raise the sum of four thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary for the purpose of building an iron or suspension bridge across Black river, at the village of Black River.

$ 2. On the day of the annual town meeting, the board of town officers thereat presiding, shall, at twelve o'clock at noon of that day, submit the question of raising money, to the electors, as recited in the first section of this act. If a majority of said electors present and voting, shall vote in favor of raising the money, the board shall so declare, whereupon the electors shall, by resolution, determine the mode of raising, and the time of payment of the sum to be raised by this act.

S3. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 28.

AN ACT to authorize the Trustee of School District number sixteen, in the town of Newstead, Erie county, to borrow money.

Passed February 8, 1867, three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The trustee of school district number sixteen, in the town of Newstead, Erie county, is hereby authorized to borrow, on the credit of said district, the sum of thirty-four hundred dollars, at a rate of interest not exceeding seven per cent, for the purpose of building a school house in said district, and to issue his official bonds or notes for the same, in such sums and for such times of payment as he can most conveniently negotiate, but not less than the par value, and not to exceed, in the aggregate, the sum of thirty-four hundred dollars.

$2. Said bonds or notes shall be paid, with the interest thereon, by levying a tax on the said district in the manner adopted, by a vote of the said district, at the last annual school meeting held therein.

3. The said trustee shall give security for such sam, and with such sureties as shall be approved by the county judge of Erie county, conditioned for the faithful application of said moneys, pursuant to this act, such bond to be executed to the supervisor of said town, and filed in the clerk's office of said County by said supervisor.

34. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 29.

AN ACT to authorize the Board of Supervisor. of Ontario county to raise money by tax to pa for the support of certain children at the Onta rio Orphan Asylum, and also to raise money b tax for the use of said Asylum.

Passed February 13, 1867; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The board of supervisors of Ontari county may pay to the Ontario Orphan Asylum reasonable compensation for providing for children in all cases in which, during the time such childre have been or shall be provided for by said asylum said county has been or shall be relieved from makin provision for them; and said board may, from tim to time, raise such sums of money by tax as may b necessary to pay such compensation, in the sam manner in which money is raised to pay other count expenses.

$2. The board of supervisors of said county may in each year, raise by tax, in the manner aforesaid for the use of said asylum, such sum of money, no exceeding one thousand dollars, as the said boar shall deem proper; and the money so raised shal when collected, be paid by the county treasurer o said county to the treasurer of said asylum.

S3. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 30.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled "An act to incorporate the New York Commercial Association," passed April nineteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-two.

Passed February 13, 1867.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of the New York Commercial Association is hereby changed to "New York Produce Exchange."

32. Nothing in this act contained shall affect any liability incurred by the said New York Commercial Association, nor any action or proceeding now pending. All actions hereafter commenced on account of any such liability, shall be brought and prosecuted against the said corporation by the name of the New York Produce Exchange.

33. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 31.

AN ACT to legalize and confirm the official acts of James Taylor, of the town of Luzerne, Warren county, as commissioner of highways.

Passed February 13, 1867. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. All the official acts and proceedings of James Taylor, of the town of Luzerne, Warren County, acting as commissioner of highways in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-five, are hereby confirmed, and shall be held to be of full force and validity, the same as if said James Taylor had duly taken and filed his oath of office, and had made and delivered his official bond according to law, provided, however, that nothing herein contained shall affect any suit or proceeding now pending.

32. This act shall take effect immediately.
