Chap. 55.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled "An act to incorporate the trustees of the Troy Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church," passed March thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-four.

Passed March 8, 1867.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The first section of an act entitled "An act to incorporate the trustees of the Troy Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church," passed March thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixtyfour, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

"1. Such persons as are now the trustees for the Troy Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, or who may be hereafter appointed by said conference as such trustees, shall be, and are hereby constituted a body corporate and politic by the name of the 'Trustees of the Troy Annual Conference,' and by that name shall have succession and be in law capable of taking by devise or purchase, and of holding and conveying any estate, real or personal, provided, however, that the value of the real estate so held by them shall not exceed the sum of twentyfive thousand dollars, and the annual income of both the real and personal estate held by them shall not exceed the sum of twenty thousand dollars; and all devises or bequests to said corporation shall be subject to the provisions of an act entitled 'An act relating to wills,' passed April thirteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty, and the acts amending the

same."

§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 56.

AN ACT to increase the salaries of the Justices of the Justices' Court of the city of Albany. Passed March 9, 1867; three-fifths being present.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The justices of the justices' court of the city of Albany shall respectively, be paid a salary of fifteen hundred dollars per annum ; in lieu of all fees and perquisites whatever, and the same shall be paid as of the first Tuesday of May, A. D., eighteen hundred and sixty-six, and from and after that date.

$2. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 57.

AN ACT authorizing the trustees of the First Baptist Society of the village of Cazenovia, Madison county, to raise money upon its pews and sittings.

Passed March 9, 1867.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The trustees of the First Baptist Society in the village of Cazenovia, in the county of Madison, are hereby authorized to raise money from time to time to defray all or any portion of the current expenses of the said corporation, by assessment upon all or any of the pews or sittings in their church edifice, situate in the village of Cazenovia, Madison county. Such assessment shail not create any personal liability, but shall be a charge upon the pews and sittings assessed. If any such assessment shall not be paid after at least thirty days' notice thereof, which notice shall either be served personally upon the party or parties interested, or left at their places of residence with some person of mature age, then

such pew or sitting, and all right and interest in or concerning the same, shall be forfeited to the corporation.

§2. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 58.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled "An act to authorize the Emanuel Congregation of the city of New York to hold, grant and convey real estate."

Passed March 9, 1867.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section one of the act entitled "An act to authorize the Emanuel Congregation of the eity of New York to hold, grant and convey real estate," passed April eleventh, eighteen hundred and fifty-three, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

51. The Emanuel Congregation of the city of New York, a Jewish religious corporation, chartered under an act of April fifth, eighteen hundred and thirteen, and the several acts amendatory thereto, on the thirteenth day of April, eighteen hundred and forty-five, are hereby authorized and empowered to hold, grant and convey to such persons, and upon such terms as they may deem advisable, all that certain tract of land situate, lying and being in the counties of Kings and Queens, in this State, heretofore acquired and now owned by them for cemetery purposes."

52. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 59.

AN ACT to amend section two hundred and ninety of chapter three hundred and eightynine of the Laws of eighteen hundred and fifty-one, relating to the election of directors for the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Company, by the common council of the city of Rochester.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section two hundred and ninety of chapter three hundred and eighty-nine of the Laws of eighteen hundred and fifty-one, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

The common council of the city of Rochester shall have the power to nominate and appoint one director of the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Company, for every forty-two thousand eight hundred and fifty-five dollars and five-sevenths of a dollar of capital stock of the said railroad company held by the said city at the time of each election of directors of said railroad company.

$2. This act shall take effect immediately.

Chap. 60.

AN ACT to abolish the office of "Inspector of gunpowder, burning fluids and other dangerous materials" in the city of Brooklyn.

Passed March 9, 1867; three-fifths being present. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section third of an act entitled "An act to amend an act entitled an act to consolidate the cities of Brooklyn and Williamsburgh and the town of Bushwick into one municipal government

and to incorporate the same," passed April seventeenth, eighteen hundred and fifty-four, and the several acts amendatory thereof and supplemental thereto, or affecting the same," passed April twentyeighth, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, is hereby repealed.

$2. This act shall take effect on the first day of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight.

Chap. 61.

AN ACT in relation to the sale and conveyance of certain lands, owned by Emma Jane Baker, an infant.

Passed March 9, 1867.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Jurisdiction is hereby given to the supreme court and to the county court of Erie county, to order the sale and conveyance of all the right, title and interest of Emma Jane Baker, an infant, to certain lands, situated in the town of Aurora, in said county, which were devised to her by the last will and testament of Alexander Baker, deceased; and such sale and conveyance may be made by the order of said court, on the application of the guardian of said infant, notwithstanding the provisions contained in said will; and the proceeds of such sale shall be invested and applied for the benefit of said infant, as said court shall order, and pursuant to the rules and practice of the supreme court.

S2. This act shall take effect immediately.
