Water-borne intercoastal traffic of the port of Charleston, S. C., calendar year 1938-Continued [In cargo tons of 2,240 pounds] TRADE WITH NONCONTIGUOUS TERRITORIES Puerto Rico is the only noncontiguous territory with which Charleston had direct commercial intercourse during the calendar year 1938. Receipts totaled 5,781 cargo tons of which raw and refined sugar accounted for 85.7 percent. Shipments exceeded receipts with a total of 7,393 cargo tons of which 5,819 tons or 78.7 percent consisted of fertilizer. Logs and lumber comprised the only other shipments of importance.
