The French clip was estimated by Chaptel in 1812 at 380,000 quintals [220 pounds], and valued at 80,000,000 francs. In 1860 the official estimate was 600,000 quintals, valued at 200,000,000 francs. The official statistics of the wool productions are as follows for later years :
