INTRODUCTION.

A RECOMMENDATION of the Memoir of Legh Richmond is perfectly needless. Six large editions already printed and sold have shown sufficiently the interest that Christians have taken in this work. Indeed, while his own writings have been, and continue to be, so largely blessed, men will naturally be interested in the personal history of one thus honoured of God. The memoir itself, also, is written in the same happy spirit of piety which God had given to him who is the subject of it; and is worthy of a permanent place in the Christian's Family Library.'

In preparing the present edition for the press, the editor has, after obtaining the consent of his valued friend, the author of this volume, omitted one or two lengthened passages, which relate to Mr. Richmond's children, with the intention of inserting them in an edition of the Domestic Portraiture;' where they will more naturally come; and which will form a subsequent volume of the Library.'
