No. 500, entitled "An act to incorporate the High Falls Electrical Company, of High Falls, Ulster county, New York" (No. 1057), reported in favor of the passage of the same, with some amendments, which report was agreed to, and said bill restored to its place on the order of third reading.

Mr. Brackett, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Sage, Rec. No. 212, entitled "An act to amend chapter 953 of the Laws of 1895, entitled 'An act to regulate the cutting and harvesting of ice in the Hudson river'" (No. 1029), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to.

No. 879, entitled "An act to amend chapter 555 of the Laws of 1898, entitled 'An act to establish a State board of embalmers, and to regulate the practice of embalming,' extending the time of registration thereunder" (No. 1116), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill restored to its place on the order of third reading.

Mr. Goodsell, from the committee on affairs of villages, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. C. A. Sloane, Rec. No. 382, entitled "An act to amend chapter 114 of the Laws of 1869, entitled 'An act to amend an act to consolidate and amend the several acts relating to the village of Watkins, and to enlarge the powers of the corporation of said village, passed April 3, 1861'" (No. 1619), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Goodsell, from the committee on affairs of villages, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Henderson, Rec. No. 397, entitled "An act to authorize the board of trustees of the village of White Plains to compel the owners of property fronting on any street, avenue or highway in said village to construct, relay and keep in repair the sidewalks, curbstones and gutters in front of their respective lots, and to provide for the manner and means of payment therefor by the village in case of the refusal of such owners to obey the resolution, by-law or ordinance of the said board in regard to the same" (No. 1381), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Goodsell, from the committee on affairs of villages, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Cottle, Rec. No. 219, entitled "An act to amend chapter 899 of the Laws of 1896,

entitled 'An act to consolidate and combine in a single act all existing special and local laws affecting public interests in the village of Baldwinsville, Onondaga county, and to revise and amend the charter of said village'" (No. 1312), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Ambler, from the committee on agriculture, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Ambler, Int. No. 762, entitled "An act to protect the interest of owners of farm lands and fruit growers" (No. 884), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Ambler, from the committee on agriculture, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Burnett, Rec. Mr. Goodsell, from the committee on affairs of villages, to which was referred the bill introduced by Mr. Wilcox, Int. No. 545, entitled "An act to amend chapter 218 of the Laws of 1874, entitled 'An act to amend, revise and consolidate the laws in relation to the village of Seneca Falls in the county of Seneca'" (No. 1189), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill restored to its place on order of third reading.

Mr. Goodsell, from the committee on affairs of villages, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Hendersou, Rec. No. 396, entitled "An act to authorize the board of trustees of the village of White Plains to acquire lands for fire department purposes and to build suitable buildings thereon and to procure and maintain proper fire apparatus for the protection of the property in such village against fire and to provide a proper method and means of payment therefor" (No. 1380), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to.

No. 163, entitled "An act to amend chapter 451 of the Laws of 1867, entitled' An act to incorporate the village of Mayville in the town of Chautauqua, county of Chautauqua and to repeal its present charter relative to highway taxes" (No. 1072), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to. On motion of Mr. Higgins, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Goodsell, from the committee on affairs of villages, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Apgar, Rec. No. 345, entitled “ An act authorizing the president and board of trustees of the village of Peekskill, in the county of Westchester, to borrow money on the credit of said village, and to issue bonds therefor" (No. 1623), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill restored to its place on order of third reading.

Mr. Stranahan, from the committee on affairs of cities, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Trainor, Rec. No. 340, entitled "An act to authorize the board of estimate and apportionment of the city of New York to examine, audit and allow, the claim of William F. S. Hart, as assignee of George S. Chapman, for expenses and disbursements incurred by George S. Chapman as a police captain in the city of New York during the months of December, 1896, and January 1897" (No. 1545), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to. On motion of Mr. Martin, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended and said bill ordered to a third reading.
