PREFACE The evolution or unfolding of republican government from ancient to the present time is especially interesting at this period in the world's history. things into Sixteen years of experience in both common and high schools has taught me that we get our understanding better from the sense from any other source. of sight than I have therefore arranged dots, arcs and other matter as well as the circle in such form as to represent the gradual evolution of democratic government. The drawings being concrete, assist us in understanding the abstract principles involved in the government of a free people. The aim, of course, is to make it possible for more readers to understand something of the great natural drift of world politics. From experience we learn that too few people ever catch a gleam of the actual and real goal of unity in world government. In the recent years many hearts have been saddend by the lack of this vision on the part of the governing powers of the various nations. This situation is a direct result of the lack of knowledge on the part of the common people of the world. Therefore if the ordinary man is enabled to catch a glipse of the coming unity in world government from reading this little book, I shall feel amply repaid. Francis Marion Rust |
