No. 327) entitled "An act to amend chapter nine hundred of the Laws of nineteen hundred and twenty-three, entitled 'An act to provide for the construction of a highway bridge across the Hudson river at Poughkeepsie, between the counties of Dutchess and Ulster, and for the construction of approaches thereto, and making an appropriation therefor,' in relation to improvements in South Water street in the city of Poughkeepsie, beneath and in the vicinity of such bridge," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Nicoll introduced a bill (Int. No. 328) entitled "An act to amend the Civil Practive Act, in relation of filing inventories and accounts by committees," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on codes.

Mr. Ferris introduced a bill (Int. No. 329) entitled "An act to amend the Conservation Law, in relation to battlefields and

historic sites and making appropriations for the acquisition of lands thereof and the rehabilitation and historical marking thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Thompson introduced a bill (Int. No. 330) entitled "An act authorizing and directing the supervisors of the town of Hempstead, Nassau county, to pay to the village of Valley Stream, Nassau county, certain moneys collected in said village on account of the highway taxes of said town and authorizing the borrowing of money and the levy of taxes for the payment of the same," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the bill (No. 155, Rec. No. 2) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to the construction of new bridges on a State or county highway at the joint expense of the State and county, authorizing boards of supervisors of the counties in which such bridge is located to appropriate and make available sufficient funds to pay the counties' share of the cost thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Ferris, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 83, Int. No. 84), now in the committee of the whole.

Also, a bill (No. 156, Rec. No. 3) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to the repair, alteration or reconstruction of highway bridges by the State Commissioner of Highways, and authorizing the board of supervisors of the county or counties in which such bridges are located to appropriate and make available sufficient funds to pay the counties' share of the cost thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Ferris, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 81, Int. No. 82), now in the committee of the whole.

Also, a bill (No. 135, Rec. No. 4) entitled "An act to amend the Nassau County Police Act, in relation to police districts established pursuant to article fourteen-a of the Town Law," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Thompson, and by unanimous consent, said said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 67, Int. No. 68), now in the committee of the whole.

Also, a bill (No. 214, Rec. No. 5) entitled "An act to amend chapter two hundred and sixty-three af the Laws of nineteen hundred and five, entitled 'An act authorizing the town board of the town of Cortlandt to appropriate certain moneys to the Helping Hand Hospital Association of Peekskill, New York,' in relation to authority and power to raise by taxation moneys to be

paid to the Peekskill Hospital for the care and maintenance of indigent patients of the town of Cortlandt," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Also, a bill (No. 136, Rec. No. 6) entitled "An act in relation to police districts created in the county of Nassau under article fourteen-a of the Town Law," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Thompson, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 68, Int. No. 69), now in the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Senate bill introduced by Mr. Dick (No. 19, Int. No 19) entitled "An act to amend the Decedent Estate Law, in relation to correcting a misreference in section one hundred and sixty of such chapter," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibbs, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the Senate bill introduced by Mr. Nicoll (No. 227, Int. No. 224) entitled "An act to incorporate The Guardian Life Welfare Trust for the administration of trust funds for fostering the welfare of men and women in the employ of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America at the company's home office in the city of New York, State of New York, and elsewhere," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Thayer, from the committee on public service, to which was referred the Senate bill introduced by Mr. Thayer (No. 22, Int. No. 22) entitled "An act to amend the Railroad Law, in relation to the appointment of policemen by steam or electric railroads, steamboat companies or express companies operating over steam or electric railroads," reported in favor of the passage of the same. which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Webb, from the committee on military affairs, to which was referred the Senate bill introduced by Mr. Webb (No. 91, Int. No. 92) entitled "An act to amend chapter four hundred and forty of the Laws of nineteen hundred and twenty-four, entitled 'An act authorizing the Fifth New York Volunteer Veterans' Association Duryea Zouaves to dedicate to the State of New York certain lands in the State of Virginia and to distribute funds among surviving members or other persons entitled thereto,' in relation to providing for the maintenance of lands dedicated pursuant thereto," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Knight moved that the committee on the judiciary be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 156, Int. No.

156) entitled "An act to amend the Judiciary Law, in relation to compensation of justices of the Supreme Court," and that said bill be amended, reprinted and recommitted to the committee on the judiciary.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The President presented the report of the Water Power Commission, which was laid upon the table and ordered printed. (See Document.)
