Mr. Kirkland introduced a bill (Int. No. 384) entitled "An act to amend chapter six hundred and thirty-one of the Laws of nine teen hundred and twenty-four, entitled 'An act to authorize the local assessment and taxation of lands of the Allegany State Park located in the county of Cattaraugus,' generally," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Wendell introduced a bill (Int. No. 385) entitled "An act authorizing the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Highways, to take over for maintenance the Syracuse turnpike, part one, in the county of Madison; and the county of Madison to take over for maintenance county highway number seven hundred and twentysix, Chittenango-Oneida, part two, in such county," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time and referred to the committee on intenrnal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Mr. Hewitt, from the committee on finance, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Hutchinson (No. 94, Rec. No. 1) entitled "An act making an appropriation for extra clerical service to new committees of the Senate and Assembly," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Hewitt, from the committee on finance, to which was referred the Senate bill introduced by Mr. Webb (No. 2, Int. No. 2) entitled "An act granting the consent of the State of New York to the acquisition by the United States of certain land for lighthouse purposes, lying and being in the town of Hyde Park, Dutchess. county, State of New York, and ceding jurisdiction over the same, reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole. Mr. Byrne offered a resolution, in the words following:

Resolved, That five hundred (500) extra copies of the report of the New York State Commission for Survey of Crippled Children, dated March 15, 1925, being legislative document No. 100, be printed for the use of the Senate.

Ordered, That said resolution be referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Downing moved that the committee on insurance be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 162, Int. No. 162) entitled "An act to amend the Workmen's Compensation Law, in relation to insurance carriers," and that said bill be committed to the committee on labor and industry.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Gibbs moved that the committee on finance be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 302, Int. No. 297) entitled "An act to amend chapter two hundred and thirteen of the Laws of nineteen hundred and twenty-five, entitled 'An act to create a temporary commission to make a study and survey of the

operation and facilities of the canal system of the State, the use thereof for transportation, and the requirements for improving and developing the system and promoting and increasing the use of its facilities, and making an appropriation therefor,' in relation to the report of the commission and making an appropriation for expenses of the commission and for carrying out the provisions of such chapter," and that said bill be amended, reprinted and recommitted to the committee on finance.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The Senate again met.

The Committee on Finance introduced a bill (Int. No. 386) entitled "An act making appropriations for the support of government, ," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the whole.

The President presented the report of the Joint Legislative Committee to Investigate the Advisability of Consolidation and Location of the Legislative Library, which was laid upon the table and ordered printed.

Mr. Cole introduced a bill (Int. No. 387) entitled "An act to amend the Surrogate's Court Act, in relation to the designation of the stenographer to act as deputy clerk of the surrogate's court of Steuben county," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on codes.

Also, a bill (Int. No. 388) entitled "An act to amend the Education Law, in relation to the apportionment of public moneys

for the instruction of nonresident academic pupils," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on public education. Mr. Ferris introduced a bill (Int. No. 389) entitled "An act to amend the Conservation Law, in relation to the taking of trout, which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on conservation.

Also (by request), a bill (Int. No. 390) entitled "An act to amend the Conservation Law, in relation to the taking of black bass from the waters of Lake George," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on conservation.

Mr. Hewitt introduced a bill (Int. No. 400) entitled "An act to amend the State Finance Law, in relation to the issuance of bonds, creating State debts authorized by law for acquisition of real property and construction, pursuant to section fifteen of article seven of the Constitution, " which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Thayer introduced a bill (Int. No. 401) entitled "An act making appropriation for the extension and improvement of existing State parks and the establishment of new State parks and parkways in order to create a comprehensive and unified State park system for the promotion of the recreation, instruction and health of the people, to carry out the provisions of chapter six hundred and two of the Laws of nineteen hundred and twentyfour," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

The Assembly returned the resolution by Mr. Adler relative to the majority and minority leaders of the Senate and Assembly becoming ex-officio members of all joint legislative committees, with a message that they have concurred in the Senate amendment thereto.

Ordered, That the Clerk return said resolution to the Assembly. Mr. Baumes offered a resolution, in the words following:

Resolved (if the Assembly concur), That the further sum of $2,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and hereby is appropriated from the contingent fund of the Legislature for necessary expenses incurred and to be incurred by the Joint Legislative Committee on the Coordination of Civil and Criminal Practice Acts to be approved, audited and paid in the same manner as heretofore provided.

Mr. J. F. Williams moved that the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 172, Int. No. 172) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to disposition of fees realized from operation of provisions of such law relating to motor vehicles," and that said bill be amended, reprinted and recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.
