The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

Prayer by Rev. J. E. Lovejoy.

The journal of March 31st was read and approved.

Mr. Truman introduced a bill (Int. No. 1437) entitled "An act in relation to the creation, financing and activities of certain public districts," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Dunnigan introduced a bill (Int. No. 1438) entitled "An act to amend the Workmen's Compensation Law, in relation to claims of employees against third persons," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on labor and industry.

Mr. Thayer introduced a bill (Int. No. 1439) entitled "Concurrent resolution of the Senate and Assembly proposing amendments to section two of article three, section one of article four and section one of article fourteen of the Constitution, in relation to the terms of office of the Governor and Lieutenant-Governor, affecting in like manner the terms of office of the Comptroller and Attorney-General, and in relation to the terms of office of Senators and members of Assembly, and the method of amending the Constitution," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Gibbs introduced a bill (Int. No. 1440) entitled "An act to amend the Executive Law, in relation to the collection, compilation and publication of the civil and criminal judicial statisties of the State, and making an appropriation therefor," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the bill (No. 1765, Rec. No. 324) entitled "An act to amend the New York City Municipal Court Code, in relation to notice of application for warrant of seizure in action to foreclose lien or chattel," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on codes.

Also, a bill (No. 1791, Rec. No. 325) entitled "An act to confer jurisdiction on the Court of Claims to hear, audit and determine the claim of Benjamin S. Konight for personal injuries sustained while an employee of the New York State Bonus Commission," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on general laws.

Also, a bill (No. 1633, Rec. No. 326) entitled "An act to confer jurisdiction upon the Court of Claims to determine the claim of John W. Nugent against the State of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second

On motion of Mr. Kirkland, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 1214, Int. No. 1070), now on the order of third reading.

Also, a bill (No. 1622, Rec. No. 327) entitled "An act to amend the Banking Law, in relation to private bankers in certain towns and villages," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on banks.

Also, a bill (No. 1650, Rec. No. 328) entitled "An act conferring jurisdiction upon the Court of Claims to hear and determine the claim of John Owens against the State for injuries to his automobile when it was struck by an airplane operated by an officer and employee of the State near the Wicks flying field in the city of Utica," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on general laws.

Also, a bill (No. 1603, Rec. No. 329) entitled "An act to amend the Prison Law, in relation to paroles and commutation," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Brown, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 765, Int. No. 575), now on the order of third reading.

Also, a bill (No. 1183, Rec. No. 330) entitled "An act to amend the Education Law, in relation to recording by photography, which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on public education.

Also, a bill (No. 1660, Rec. No. 331) entitled "An act to amend the Judiciary Law, in relation to the salary of attendants of courts in the First Department of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Also, a bill (No. 1570, Rec. No. 332) entitled "An act conferring jurisdiction upon the Court of Claims to hear and determine the claim of Almeda A. Jones against the State for personal injuries sustained by falling upon a sidewalk in the grounds of the Buffalo State Hospital," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Knight, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 1165, Int. No. 1046), now on the order of third reading.

Also, a bill (No. 707, Rec. No. 333) entitled "An act to legalize and confirm the official acts of notaries public and commissioners of deeds," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Kirkland, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 493, Int. No. 475), now on the order of third reading.

Also, a bill (No. 1541, Rec. No. 334) entitled "An act to confer jurisdiction on the Court of Claims to hear, audit and determine the claim of Patrick W. Cullinan against the State for the value of diseased cattle destroyed, and to render judgment therefor, which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on general laws.

Also, a bill (No. 1481, Rec. No. 335) entitled "An act to confer jurisdiction to hear, audit and determine the claim of Fred Dumar, Harry Proper and Richard Proper against the State for damages suffered by reason of flooding of the Barge canal, and to render judgment therefor," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on general laws.

Also, a bill (No. 1672, Rec. No. 336) entitled "An act to amend the Conservation Law, in relation to open season for wild pheasants," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Thompson, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 1612, Int. No. 1077), now on the order of third reading.

Also, a bill (No. 1580, Rec. No. 337) entitled "An act conferring jurisdiction upon the Court of Claims to hear and determine the claim of Arthur W. Martino against the State for personal injuries received in the performance of his duties as an enlisted man in Battery E, One Hundred and Fifth Field Artillery of the National Guard," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on general laws.

Also, a bill (No. 1687, Rec. No. 338) entitled "An act to provide for extending the boundaries of the city of Syracuse by annexing thereto a part of the town of Salina by vote of the electors and taxpayers of the territory proposed to be annexed and by consent of the mayor and common council of the city of Syracuse, and to provide for the government of the annexed territory, the payment of school bonded indebtedness, the apportionment of town bonded indebtedness, the supplying of water and the disposal of sewage," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on affairs of cities.

Also, a bill (No. 1692, Rec. No. 339) entitled "An act to change the name of the village of Watkins to the name of the village of Watkins Glen," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on affairs of villages.

Pursuant to resolution heretofore adopted, the Assembly returned the Senate bill (No. 1328, Int. No. 699) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to registration of motor vehicles."
