Sieur de Monts Na- WHEREAS, the Hancock County Trustees of Public Reservations, State of Maine, did, on the 10th day of June, 1916, pursuant to the Act of Congress entitled, "An Act for the Preservation of American Antiquities", approved June 8, 1906, (34 Stat., 225), by their certain deed of conveyance, properly executed in writing and acknowledged, give, grant and convey to the United States of America the following described lands at that time held by them in private ownership and being located upon Mount Desert Island in the State of Maine, and bounded and particularly described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a large hemlock tree in the west line of land of Charles Description. C. Burrill, said tree marking the southwest corner of the Humphrey Stanwood Lot, so called; thence south six degrees thirty minutes west, but everywhere following the west line of said land of Burrill, one thousand three hundred and thirty-eight feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of said land of Burrill; thence on same course, south six degrees thirty minutes west, following the west line of land formerly of John B. and Charles T. How, now of George B. Dorr, four hundred and twelve and five-tenths feet to an iron bolt set in the ledge and a cross cut in the ledge on Kebo Mountain, said bolt marking the southwest corner of said land of Dorr; thence, following the south line of said land of Dorr, south eighty-three degrees thirty minutes east six hundred and forty-five feet to a cedar stake driven in the ground; thence south seven degrees five minutes east five hundred and ninety-eight feet to a cedar stake driven in the ground; thence south fifteen degrees east five hundred and ninety-two and five-tenths feet to a cedar stake driven in the ground; thence south two degrees thirty minutes east four hundred and forty feet; thence south ten degrees east four hundred and ninety-seven feet to a stake and stones; thence south twenty-four degrees thirty minutes east three hundred and fifty-seven feet to a stake driven in the ground; thence south five degrees thirty minutes west one hundred and ninety-four feet to a stake driven in the ground; thence south thirty minutes east six hundred and ninety-two feet to a stake driven in the ground; thence south fifty-two degrees forty-five minutes east to the west side line of the Kane Memorial Path, so-called; thence southerly, but always following the western side line of said Kane Memorial Path, to its intersection with the Ladder Path, so-called; thence southerly and easterly, but everywhere following the western and southern side lines of said Ladder Path, to an iron bolt driven in the ground at a point one rod westerly of the western side line of the Ötter Creek Road; thence northerly, but everywhere parallel with |
