The Convention which adopted the present Constitution of the state consisted of 126 members, all of whom attended on the third day of the Session. Every member except one was a native American Citizen. 66 were born in New York; 32 in Connecticut; 9 in Massachusetts; 7 in New Jersey; 5 in Rhode Island; 2 in Pennsylvania; 1 in Ver mont; 1 in Maryland; 1 in Virginia; 1 in Maine; 1 in Europe (Wales.) 68 were Farmers; 37 were Lawyers; 9 were Merchants; 7 were Mechanics; and 5 were Physicians.
