[In making the Abstract, it has been found impossible, from the imperfect character of the annual reports made by railroad corporations previous to the Act of 1846, to give the whole number of passengers carried over the roads, or the whole number of miles run by passenger trains, freight trains, or for other purposes, from the opening of the road. Where the return, made in compliance with the above order, contains this information, it is given. Some of the returns cannot state all the sums paid on account of injuries, or all the persons that have been killed or injured on the roads.] The Special Committee on Railroad Accidents, to whom were referred, by an order of February 23d, the returns of various Railroad Corporations in relation to accidents on their respective roads, with instructions to cause a tabular statement of the same to be printed, report the following Length of the road, Ꭺ Ᏼ Ꮪ Ꭲ Ꭱ Ꭺ Ꮯ Ꭲ .
