In the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty-Eight.

RESOLVE

For Payment to the Widow of the late Samuel Hubbard, Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court.

Resolved, That there be paid to the widow of the late Hon. Samuel Hubbard, one of the associate-justices of the supreme judicial court, out of the treasury of the Commonwealth, such sum of money as would have been due to him, had he continued to discharge the duties of his office from the time of his decease to the first day of April next; and that his excellency the governor draw his warrant therefor.

AN ACT

To repeal an Act for the Relief of Insolvent Debtors, and the more equal distribution of their effects," and several Acts in addition thereto.

BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 SECT. 1. The act passed on the twenty-third day 2 of April, in the year one thousand eight hundred and 3 thirty-eight, entitled "an act for the relief of insol4 vent debtors and for the more equal distribution of 5 their effects," and all acts subsequently passed in ad6 dition thereto, are hereby repealed.

SECT. 2. All proceedings which have been, or 2 may be, commenced under the several acts herein3 before mentioned, shall be carried on and finished in 4 like manner as if this act had not passed.

1 SECT. 3. Nothing in this act shall revive, or give 2 force or effect to, the act passed on the fifteenth day 3 of April, in the year one thousand eight hundred and 4 thirty-six, entitled "an act to regulate the assign5 ment and distribution of the property of insolvent 6 debtors."

SECT. 4. This act shall take effect from and after 2 the first day of August next.

BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

The several judges of probate and mas2 ters in chancery in this Commonwealth, in addition to 3 the returns required by the one hundred and sixty4 eighth chapter of the acts of the year eighteen hun5 dred and forty-six, shall, on or before the fifteenth day 6 of December, in each year, make returns to the sec7 retary of the Commonwealth, containing the names
