THE ANNIVERSARY BANQUET

Was held in "Library Hall" of the University, and was a most successful and enjoyable occasion, as all who were present will testify. One hundred and sixty-five sat down to dinner which was most satisfactorily served by the ladies of the Presbyterian church. The hall and tables were beautifully ornamented with ferns, while Mrs. President Adams had thoughtfully furnished a button-hole bouquet for every guest. The University Mandolin Club furnished delightful music during the dinner, while the College Glee Club sang several selections and led the choruses in the after dinner program. The music by these clubs was a genuine treat to all. In the absence of Magister, Dr. Philip Fox, the post of toast-master was filled by the Secretary. The following is a list of the toasts and sentiments:

I. THE WISCONSIN STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY.

DR. FRANK W. EPLEY, President of the Society. "Faith, thou hast some crotchets in thy head now."

II. THE President-ELECT.

-Shakspere, Merry Wives of Windsor.

In the absence of President-elect Reynolds, DR. BURGESS responded.

III. WISCONSIN, FORWARD.

Gov. W. H. UPHAM.

"Our hearts, our hopes are all with thee;
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers, our tears,
Our faith triumphant o'er our fears,
Are all with thee, are all with thee," Wisconsin.
-Longfellow, Building of the Ship.

IV. THE CLERGYMAN AND THE PHYSICIAN.

REV. E. G. UPDIKE.

"And Asa, in the thirty and ninth year of his reign, was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great; yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians; and Asa slept with his fathers."'

V. DOCTORS AND PRINTERS' INK.

-2 Chronicles 16:11, 12.

"Where village statesmen talk'd with looks profound,
And news much older than their ale went round."

A. P. WILDer.

-Goldsmith, Deserted Village.

VI. STATE BOARD OF HEALTH AND THE STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY. They join hands in warding off disease from the commonwealth.

DR. U. O. B. WINGATE, Secretary State Board of Health. "Joy and Temperance and Repose Slam the door on the doctor's nose."'

VII. THE WISCONSIN STATE MEDICAL SOCIETY-BIOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICAL.

And summon from the shadowy past
The forms that once have been."

DR. J. B. WHITING.

-Longfellow, A Gleam of Sunshine.

VIII. THE Beneficent MISSION OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION.

REV. FATHER NAUGHTIN.
