CHAP. 255.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to John T. Mull.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of John T. Mull, late of Company H, Fourteenth Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, January 22, 1903.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Magnus J. Cohn, late of Company A, Twentyseventh Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Susan Parker, widow of Thomas Parker, late second lieutenant Company D, Twentieth Regiment United States Colored Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of fifteen dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving.

States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Ransford T. Chase, late of Company F, Ninth Regiment United States Veteran Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty-four dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Elizabeth J. Emery. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension

laws, the name of Elizabeth J. Emery, widow of Maril D. Emery, late of Company M, Third Regiment Missouri Volunteer Cavalry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United [Private, No. 227.] States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of William G. Cantley, late orderly sergeant Captain James L. Brown's company, South Carolina Volunteers, Florida Indian war, and pay him a pension at the rate of sixteen dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, January 22, 1903.

CHAP. 262.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Clarence D. Hess.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Clarence D. Hess, late captain Company G, Thirteenth Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Smith, late acting assistant surgeon, United States Army, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month.

Scriven, widow of Gardner R. Scriven, late acting surgeon, United States Volunteers, and pay her a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month.

Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Light Artillery, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty-four dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

McVicker, late of Company E, Eightyeighth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Fannie E. Strohauer, widow of Henry Strohauer, late of Company F, Eighty-third Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month, such pension, however, to cease upon proof that the soldier is still living.
