Same day John Roban, who was capitally convicted in the coun'y, for the murder of Abigail Kennedy, was conducted under a guard of the army, and

a number of gentlemen, to Middleton, where he was hanged and quartered, and in the evening his head was brought

to this town and fixed on fouth goal April 25. Laft Friday Cornelius, Dennis, and Daniel M'Carty, three brothers, were carried under a strong guard from our county goal to Bandon, where the latter was executed on Saturday, and the two former were carried the faid day to Clonakilty, and executed, all for the robbery of Mr. James Brown, near Macroom.

The youngest of the above brothers' made ufe of a ftratagem to fave his life, which was by placing two hooks under his neck, for the reception of the rope, which were covered with white linen, and faftened round his body with straps, but he being remarkably bufy about his collar, occafioned a fufpicion; and upon examination, was difcovered, by which he received a tremendous disappointment,

Alfo, to a bill for giving a further time for persons in office or employments to qualify themselves, pursuant to the regulations prescribed by an act to prevent the further growth of popery.

And alfo, to a bill for the better punishing those persons who shall ftand mute on arraignments for murder, felony, and treason.

A few days ago, a country gentleman, or merchant, travelling to the North, ftopped to dine at Liffen-hall,

the gentleman and his friends were taking a glafs after dinner, and talking of money matters, their difcourfe was overheard by four foot-travellers, that fat in the kitchen, who understanding his refolution to depart haftily, paid their reckoning, and went off towards Drogheada. This being obferved by the landlord, the traveller was again intrea ted to stay, but to no purpose. He rode unmolested for feveral miles, but in a narrow way between Balrothery and the White Hart, the fame fellows, (as is fuppofed) ruflied from a hedge, feized his bridle, and dragging him to the ground, firuck him fo inhumanly about the head and breast as to deprive him of his fenfes, after which they robbed him of above thirty-fix pounds in cafh, a filver-watch, a fnuff-box, and fome linen in a faddle-bag, with which they got clear off. Diligent fearch has been made after these villains, but hitherto without effect.

The Rt. Hon. the Lord-Mayor has fet a very laudable example, by taking up a confiderable number of thofe of fenfive animals, Pigs, which he found ranging about the fireets, and which he intends as a present to the house of induftry, where they will be an acceptable relief. Would our inferiour Magiftrates practise the fame in their different neighbourhoods, there would foon be an end to fo flagrant a nuifance, dangerous to all, but more efpecially to infants, who are fometimes devoured by them, when left alone.

April 22. The Right Hon, the Lord Mayor gave a Ball to his Excellency the Lord Lieutenant and feveral of the Nobility and Gentry, at the Mayoralty-house in Dawson-street.
