Rape.

For raifing and faving in the year 1774, the greatest quantity of rape feed from boggy, rufhy, or mountainous ground 341. 2s. 6d.

For the fecond quantity 221. 155. For the third quantity 18, 4s. No less than 20 acres fhall entitle any perfon to the first premium;

Nor less than 15 acres to the fecond premium;

Nor lefs than 10 acres to the third premium.

The fum of 751. Is, 6d, will be appropriated in thefe premiums to each of the four provinces 3001. 6s. To be adjudged the 19th of January

Madder.

The fum of zool. will be appropriated for the encouragement of growing madder in this kingdom, to be given in premiums at the rate of 60l. per cent on the value of madder of Irish growth, which fhall be fold either fresh, or dried and ground, to merchants, dyers, or others; or if the cultivator fhould also be a manufacturer, and fhould himself make ufe of his madder, he fhall be entitled to the faid premium, provided the value of his madder be afcertained to the fociety's fatisfaction; and if it fhould appear that more madder than to the value of 3331. 6s. 8d. fhall have been produced by all the claimants, then the faid fum of 2001. fhall be divided among them proportionably to the value of what each claimant fhall have raised 2001. The like premiums will be given for silks which shall be fold as aforefaid, in the Irith filk ware-houfe, from the ift of June 1775, inclufive, to the 1ft of June 1776.

A fum not exceeding 4501. will be given to defray all expences whatever of the faid ware-house, from the ift of June 1774, inclufive, to the 1ft of June

The like fum of 450l. will be given to defray the expences of the faid warehoufe, from the ift of June 1775, inclufive, to the 1ft of June 1776.

Silks fold by Wholefule.

Premiums of 31. per cent, will be given to wholesale buyers of filks, for the purpofe of felling again, on the value of fuch goods, provided the fame fhall not exceed 20,000l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 600l. will be given in proportion to the value of filken goods fo bought, refpectively, by each claimant, from the ft of June 1774 inclufive, to the ift of June 1775 600l..

Additional Encouragement for Ditto. The fum of 200l. will be given as an additional encouragement to the above premiums of 31. per cent. rateably and proportionably to the value of Irith filks which fhall be bought by wholesale, for the purpofe of felling again, by each claimant refpectively, from the ift of June 1774, inclufive, to the ift of June 1775; provided the filks for which the faid additional encouragement is offered, be of the value of five fhillings and fix-pence, per yard, or upwards To be adjudged the 5th of October 1775. Erecting Mountures.

To be adjudged as the goods are fold.

fum of 6ool. then the fum of 150l. shall be divided among the claimants proportionably to the value of Mountures which each fhall have erected 1501. To be adjudged the 5th of October 1775.

Each claimant is to make affidavit concerning the charges he has been at, in erecting the Mounture or Mountures, for which any premium may be adjudged to him.

WOOLLEN

WOOLLEN MANUFACTURE. Broad Cloths manufactured and finished not nearer than 20 Miles to Dublin. HE sum of 200l. will be paid in

value of broad cloths and broad rugs, which fhall be fold or exposed to fale in any city, town corporate, or market town of this kingdom, to be entirely manufactured and compleatly finished at a distance of not less than 20 miles from the city of Dublin, and not within the city or liberties of the city of Cork, from the 24th of June 1774, inclufive, to the 24th of June 1775, by perfons who have twice already obtained premiums for fuch goods manufactured at or above the diftance aforefaid from the city of Dublin and the city of Cork.

And if it fhould appear that fuch goods to more than the value of 33331. 65. 8d. fhall be fo manufactured by fuch perfons within the faid time, then the fum of 2001. fhall be divided in proportion to the value of the goods refpectively manufactured by each claimant 2001. To be adjudged the 12th of Octob. 1775. The fum of 200l. will be paid in premiums not exceeding 81. 6s. 8d. per cent. on the value of broad cloths and broad rugs which shall be fold, or expofed to fale in any city, town corporate, or market town of this kingdom, to be entirely manufactured and compleatly finished at a distance of not lefs than 20 miles from the city of Dublin, and not within the city or liberties of the city of Cork, from the 24th of June 1774, inclufive, to the 24th of June 1775, by perfons who have already once obtained premiums for fuch goods, manufactured at above the distance aforefaid, from the city of Dublin, and the city of Cork.

And if it fhould appear that fuch goods to more than the value of 2400l. fhall be fo manufactured by fuch perfons within the faid time, then the fum of 2001. fhall be divided in proportion to the value of the goods refpectively manufactured by each claimant 200l. from the city of Dublin, and not within the city or liberties of the city of Cork, from the 24th of June 1774, inclufive, to the 24th of June 1775, by perfons who have never obtained premiums for

the distance before-mentioned from the city of Dublin, and the city of Cork.

And if it should appear that fuch goods to more than the value of 2000l. fhall he fo manufactured by fuch perfons within the faid time, then the fum of 2001. fhall be divided in proportion to the value of goods refpectively manufactured by each claimant. 2001. To be adjudged the 12th of Octob. 1775. Provided that to ascertain the value and quantity of fuch goods, they shall be depofited in a hall or room in any city, town corporate, or market town of this kingdom, which shall be provided for that purpofe; that every piece be there viewed and examined by an infpector, to be approved of by the Society, who is to certify upon oath before the chief magiftrate of fuch city or town corporate, that the faid broad cloths and broad rugs have been well and fufficiently manufactured, and compleatly finished, and that the prices at which they fhall be rated by the manufacturers, are reasonable.

The faid inspectors thall be allowed for their trouble in fo doing, three pence per piece, to be paid proportionably by fuch claimants as may obtain premiums.

The Society will receive the certificates of the abilities and integrity of fuch infpectors for their approbation, on the fecond Thursday in October enfuing; when the Society will have fuch rules and regulations prepared for the conduct of fuch inspectors, as they thall judge proper.

Every claimant muft prove to the Society's fatisfaction that the place where his faid goods had been manufactured, had been alfo his place of refidence.

Superfine Warp or Woof Yarn. To the undertaker fcribblers who shall caufe to be fcribbled and spun for warp or woof, superfine yarn fit for superfine broad cloths, from the ft of June 1774, to the ift of June 1775, the fum of

Provided the faid undertaker fcribblers fhall have paid weekly to the fpinners of the faid yarn one farthing per fkain more than they have hitherto done, according to the quantity fo fpun, and

For warp yarn fit for broad cloths, which fhall be fcribbled and spun, at the distance of at least 10 miles from the city of Dublin, from the 1ft of June 1774, inclufive, to the 1ft of June 1775; a premium will be given of one penny per fkain, provided the number of fkains of fuch yarn thall not exceed 25000,

will be given to the perfon or perfons who fhall import into this kingdom good and merchantable oak bark fit for tanning, from the eaft and northern countries, Spain, Holland, or America, between the ift day of November, 1774, and the 1ft of November, 1775, provided that the faid premiums fhall not exceed the fum of 300l. and if it fhould, then the faid fum of 300l. to be divided proportionably to the importers, according to the quantity of fuch bark by each of them refpectively imported. To the perfon or perfons who fhall firft erect a gigg-mill, and a cottoning engine, in any part of this kingdom, a premium of 10l. per cent. will be given on the value of woollen goods, which fhall be finished in fuch gigg-mill or cottoning engine, from the 24th day of June, 1772, to the 24th day of June, 1774, provided that the whole amount of the value of woollen goods fo manufactured and finished, fhall not exceed the fum of 3000l.

For making and felling from the 24th of June, 1774, to the 24th of June, 1775, at the diftance of at least 30 miles from the city of Dublin, and 20 miles from the city of Cork, Callimancoes of fingle worsted, and full fifteen inches wide, ruffels and broad stuffs, all of fingle worsted, and equal in quality to September, 1774.

For the manufacturing of bombazines of 2s. and upwards, per yard, from the 10th of March, 1774, inclufive, to the 10th of March, 1775, of the fame kinds and qualities with thofe ufually imported, 10l. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch bombazines, provided the fame thall not exceed 250l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 251. fhall be divided proportionably to the value of bombazines manufactured by each claimant

251. To be adjudged the 16th of March 1775. Gauzes.

For the manufacturing of gauzes, of Aaaa filk

filk mixt with linen, cotton, gold, or filver thread, from the 10th of March, 1774, inclusive, to the 10th of March, 1775, 10l. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch gauzes, provided the fame fhall not exceed 100l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 10l. fhall be divided proportionably to the value of gauzes manufactured by each claimant. rol. To be adjudged the 16th of March, 1775. Lutherines.

For the manufacturing of Lutherines, from the 1st of August, 1773, inclusive, to the ift of Auguft, 1774, 10l. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch Lutherines, provided the fame fhall not exceed 150l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 151. will be divided proportionably to the value of Lutherines manufactured by each claimant To be adjudged the 6th of Octob. 1774.

And for afcertaining the quantity and value of each of these articles of mixed goods, the infpector for the time being of the goods fent into the Irish filk warehouse, shall examine the same, and certify to the Society the quantity and goodnefs of each article, with the name of the manufacturer; for which he shall be allowed two-pence, per piece, out of the premiums, for the goods he fhall fo examine.

Bone-Lace, by the Foundling Children.

For the encouragement of making bone-lace, from the 1ft of July, 1774, to the ft of July, 1775, by the foundling children in the work-house, of the city of Dublin, 30 guineas will be given to the most deserving, in fuch proportions and in fuch manner as the right honourable lady Arabella Denny, fhall judge will moft conduce to the increase and improvement of that manufacture, in the work-house.

A premium of 251. per cent. will be given to the perfon or perfons who fhail make and fell wicker ware equal to the famples produced by Thomas Walfh, of Ballyboy, in the years 1774, and 1775; provided that the value of goods fo made and fold fhall not exceed the fum of 100l. in each year; and provided alfo, that fuch claimant or claimants fhall produce certificates that he or they respectively have taught the faid art to any two charity schools in this metropolis.

Fisheries.

A bounty of thirty five pounds will be given to each of the two whole deck'd veffels of thirty tons burthen or upwards, (which fhall be built or bought for the purpose of fifhing upon the north west coafts of this kingdom, from Maulin head to Minnan Inand, and not above four years old from ftocks) that shall be firft entered with the Port Surveyor or principal officer, then prefent, of any port between the faid limits, from the ift of June 1774, to the 1st of June 1775, her age, condition, and tonnage to be certified by a mafter builder of the port the fhall belong to, provided fuch vef fel fhall be folely employed in the faid fifhery all the year through; upon which condition only (to be certified by the furveyor of the port to which the shall belong) fhe shall be entitled to the faid bounty; proof to be alfo made that every fuch veffel fhall have appeared in fome port of the faid north west coast, at least once in every month in the faid year.

To be adjudged the ift of June 1775. A further fum of twenty-five pounds will be given to each of the said vessels for the fecond year, from the ift of

June 1775, to the 1ft of June 1776, and twenty pounds for the third year, from the ift of June 1776, to the ift of June 1777, upon the conditions beforementioned.

A fum of twenty-five pounds will be given to each of the two first whole deck'd vessels of twenty five tons each, for the first year, from the 1ft of June 1774, to the ft of June 1775, twenty pounds for the fecond year, from the 1st of June 1775, to the ift of June 1776, and fifteen pounds for the third year, from the ift of June 1776, to the ift of June 1777, folely upon the conditions before-mentioned.

A further sum of twenty pounds will be given to each of the two first whole deck'd vessels of twenty tons each, for the first year from the 1ft of June 1774, to the ift of June 1775, fifteen pounds for the fecond, from the ift of June 1775, to the 1st of June 1776, and ten pounds for the third year, from the 1ft of June 1776, to the 1ft of June 1777, folely on the conditions before-mentioned.

To be adjudged the 1ft Thursday in June in each year.

A premium not exceeding 2501. in the whole, will be given at the rate of 251. per Cent, to the perfon who shall first compleat a ftove, or ftoves, ftore-houses, ware-houfes, and other offices, for the curing of fish on the faid north west coaft of this kingdom; the faid claimant proving to the fatisfaction of the fociety, that he has completely finished the fame, fo as to be in perfect order for the curing and preferving of fish of all forts caught upon the faid north west coast: Provided that such Claimant fhall give fecurity by a mortgage thereof, that the premiffes fhall be made ufe of for the curing of fish only, for the term of feven years, from the time he shall obtain fuch premium.

A bounty of three pounds a ton will be given to any perfon, or company for every ton of oil, by him or them extracted from fifh without fire, caught as above-mentioned; provided the number

of tons for which fuch bounty may be

claimed, does not exceed twenty.

To be adjudged the 1it of June, 1775. A bounty of twenty fhillings a ton will be given to any perfon or company, who fhall bring into any port or creek on the north west coast, between MauJin head, and Minnan Inapd, any quan

tity of falt, not lefs than twenty tons, and ufe the fame in curing of fifh for home confumption or exportation; or who fhall fell it to fishermen for that purpose only. The fifh exported to be afcertained by the certificate of the difcharging officer of the port; and the confumption in curing of fish, by the affidavit of the consumer, in which fhall be specified the quantity or number, and kind of fifh fo cured, and the place where they were cured. Provided always that the faid bounty fhall not be payable for more than three hundred tons, nor the price upon the fale of the faid falt more than two pounds a ton; but if claims for a greater number of tons shall be made, and entitled to the bounty, that the fum of three hundred pounds fhall be rateably divided among the claimants.

To be adjudged the ift of June, 1775. A bounty of one fhilling a barrel, containing thirty two gallons, will be given to every perfon or company, for every barrel of herrings caught on the north west coaft, within the above limits, and exported to foreign parts; provided that the faid bounty fhall not exceed 150l. and if claims for a greater number than three thousand barrels thall be made and entitled to the faid bounty, then the faid fum of 150l. fhall be rateably divided among the faid claimants.

To be adjudged the ift of June, 1775. A premium not exceeding sol. in the whole, will be given for fuch white fish as fhall be dried or cured in ovens or stoves on the north west coast, within the limits aforefaid, and fold or exported, after the rate of 251. for every 1ool. in value, fuch fish shall be really and bona fide fold for.

To be adjudged the ift of June, 1775. The Dublin Society recommend the following Method of making Ifinglass, and hope the Gentlemen on the Sea Coafts of Ireland will cause Experiments to be made of this valuable Commodity.-It is extracted from the Discoveries made by Humphrey Jackson, Efq; F.
