The General Convention of the New Jerusalem

IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,

Held in the City of Cincinnati, Ohio, from Friday, June 1, to Tuesday, June 5, 1877.

FRIDAY, June 1, 1877.

1. The Ministers and Delegates to the Convention met at 10 o'clock, A.M., in the house of worship of the First New Jerusalem Society of Cincinnati.

2. The President, Rev. Chauncey Giles, called the meeting to order.

3. The meeting was opened with reading from the Word, and prayer, by the President.

4. Messrs. Milo G. Williams, of Ohio, R. M. Pulsifer, of Massachusetts, and Joseph Reed, of Illinois, were appointed a Committee on Credentials.

5. The Secretary read Section 4 of the By-Laws.

6. The Committee on Credentials received the credentials of Delegates, and reported the Roll of the Convention; which, as finally corrected and completed, is as follows: —

12. The Rev. James Reed presented the following Preamble and Resolution, with appropriate remarks, and they were adopted by a rising vote:

Whereas, Mr. George Broadfield, of Manchester, England, a worthy and well-known New Churchman in that country, and a son of one who has endeared himself to many members of this body by his unaffected kindness and genuine hospitality, is present at our meeting; therefore,

Resolved, That this Convention extends to Mr. Broadfield. a hearty welcome, and invites him to take a seat with the
