The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

Assembly, "An act to amend the act to incorporate the 'Rome Hydraulic Company,' passed April 9, 1855."

Assembly, "An act to legalize the acts of the board of town auditors. of the town of Sempronius, Cayuga county, in auditing claims for money advanced to pay town bounties.

Assembly, "An act providing for additional compensation to deputies, clerks and assistants, in the various departments of the State govern

ment."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Bennett, from said committee, reported that they have made some amendments to the first named bill, and amended the title by adding thereto the words: "so as to increase the number of directors, and to provide for the choice of inspectors of election," and as amended, recommend its passage; which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Bennett, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the second named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Bennett, from the same committee, reported progress on the last named bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act relative to certain documentary evidence."

"An act for the relief of Hezekiah L. Raymond."

"An act to amend chapter 275 of the Laws of 1842, entitled 'An act to combine into one act the several acts relating to the city of Albany.'" After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. E. Cornell, from said committee, reported progress on the first named bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. E. Cornell, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the second named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

"An act for the relief of the Children's Aid Society of the city of New York, and in aid of the industrial schools thereof."

Assembly, "An act to authorize the common council of the city of Newburgh to enlarge, alter and improve the water-works of said city, and to acquire the title to lands, lakes, ponds, springs and streams of water, and to raise money upon the bonds of the said city therefor."

"An act to amend the act and the title thereof, entitled 'An act authorizing the Canal Commissioners to open the stone drain along the berme bank of the Erie canal, from the north side of Earl street, in the village of West Troy, to the culvert next south of the same,' passed April 4,

1866."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and

"An act appointing Jesse P. Haines, Elijah C. Odell and Philetus R. Perry, commissioners for draining certain lands in the town of Royalton, county of Niagara."

"An act to incorporate 'The Mechanics' Savings Bank of Rochester.'" "An act to authorize the consolidation of corporations organized under the act entitled 'An act to authorize the formation of corporations for manufacturing, mining, mechanical or chemical purposes,' passed February 17, 1848, or any of the acts amending or extending the same."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Humphrey, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the two first named bills, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bills ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Humphrey, from the same committee, reported progress on the last named bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the bills entitled as follows: "An act to consolidate the First Methodist Episcopal Church, Utica, with the State Street Methodist Episcopal Church, Utica, to be known as the First Methodist Episcopal Church, Utica," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on charitable and religious societies.

"An act confirming the election and official acts of Walter Tefft, as an assessor of the town of Moriah, in the county of Essex," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

On motion of Mr. Parsons, the Senate took a recess until 7 o'clock, P. M.

The Senate again met.

The Assembly sent for concurrence the bills entitled as follows: "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Merchants' Exchange and News Room of New York,' passed March 30, 1865," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

"An act for the relief of the Buffalo and Detroit Transportation Company," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

"An act for the relief of the Buffalo and Cleveland Transportation Company," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

"An act to establish the number necessary to constitute a quorum, in certain cases," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

"An act to authorize the trustees of the Universalist Society of Whitestown, Oneida county, to sell their meeting house lot, and appropriate and invest the proceeds thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on charitable and religious societies.

"An act to amend an act passed March 22, 1865, entitled 'An act in relation to the appointment of a phonographic reporter to the city court of Brooklyn," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

"An act changing the name of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Port Jervis, New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on charitable and religious societies.

"An act changing the name of the town of Port Crane, in the county of Broome, to Fenton," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties.

The Senate again resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

Assembly, "An act for the consolidation of the Buffalo and State Line Railroad Company with the Erie and the North East Railroad Company." "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act in relation to railroads held under lease,' passed April 12, 1855."

"An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America,' passed May 13, 1846.”

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Collins, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the first named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Collins, from the same committee, reported that they have made some amendments to the second named bill, and amended the title so as to read as follows: "An act in relation to railroads held under lease," and as amended, recommend its passage, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

"An act to consolidate school districts Nos. 1, 2 and 5, of the town of Plattsburgh, into a free union single district, and to vest the government thereof and of the academy therein, in a board of education."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Platt, from said committee, reported that they have made some amendments to the first named bill, and amended the title by inserting after the word "amend" the words "sections three and seventeen," and as amended, recommend its passage, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

"An act distributing certain bounty moneys in the town of Little Valley, county of Cattaraugus."

"An act to authorize School District No. 1, of the town of Poughkeepsie, in the county of Dutchess, to borrow money for the purpose of completing a school building in said district, and to provide for the payment thereof."

"An act to increase the salaries of justices of the justices' court of the city of Albany."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. White, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of said bills, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bills ordered to a third reading.
