By unanimous consent Mr. Parsons asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act authorizing the erection of a bridge over the Genesee Valley Canal in the city of Rochester," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on canals.

By unanimous consent, Mr. O'Donnell asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to organize the Fire Department of the village of Lowville, in the county of Lewis," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Stanford asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 483 of the Laws of 1866, entitled 'An act to amend an act to establish a Capital Police District, and to provide for the care and government thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

By unanimous consent, Mr. T. Murphy asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act relative to the Hebrew Benevolent Society of the city of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on charitable and religious societies.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Lent asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 500 of the Laws of . 1866, entitled 'An act to change the route of the Broadway and Seventh Avenue Railroad Company in the city of New York,'" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on railroads.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Chambers asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to authorize the election of two police justices in the town of Kingston,' passed March 20, 1851," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. T. Murphy asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to incorporate the St. Gabriel's Temperance Benevolent Society of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. H. C. Murphy offered the following joint resolution:

Resolved, That it be referred to the joint committee on the library of the Senate and Assembly, to inquire into the expediency of purchasing for the State the portrait of the late Governor De Witt Clinton, painted from life in 1823, by Charles C. Ingham.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said resolution to the Assembly, and request their concurrence therein.

On motion of Mr. Lent, the Senate adjourned.

Mr. Andrews presented a petition of citizens of Otsego county, for State aid to complete the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad; which was read and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Chambers presented two remonstrances of inhabitants of Kingston, against increase of salary of police justice of said town; which were read and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Collins presented two petitions of citizens of New York, praying for a law securing increased facilities in the port of New York for navigating the canals; which were read and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

Mr. Gibson presented a petition on the same subject; which was read and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

Mr. Sessions presented a remonstrance against any amendment of the charter of Westfield; which was read and referred to the committee ou municipal affairs.

Mr. Gibson presented a petition of citizens of Washington county, for repeal of the system of repairs of canals by contract; which was read and referred to the committee on canals.

Mr. White presented a petition of the Baptist Church and Society of Spafford, for a law authorizing the sale of their church property; which was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to extend the time for the construction of the West Shore Railway," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act authorizing the directors of the Cherry Valley and Mohawk River Railroad Company to connect their road with the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad in the county of Schoharie," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 488 of Laws of 1851, respecting the powers and duties of State officers and proceedings against them," reported adversely thereto.

Mr. Kline moved to lay the question of agreeing to the report of the committee upon the table.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to lay on the table, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to authorize the appointment of an additional number of notaries public in and for the counties of Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Sullivan," reported adversely thereto, which report was agreed to, and said bill rejected.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act in relation to the compensation of executors, administrators, assigns and others," reported adversely thereto, which report was agreed to, and said bill rejected.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to prevent the carrying concealed or deadly weapons," reported adversely thereto, which report was agreed to, and said bill rejected.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the petition of Albert Bennett and others, for an act for their relief, reported adversely thereto, and in favor of the adoption of the following resolution:

Mr. Barhett moved to lay the question of agreeing to the report of the committee upon the table.

Mr. White, from the committee on literature, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to establish a free school in district No. 3, in the town of Newtown,'" reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. O'Donnell, from the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to prevent the further collection of the tax for the introduction of gas in Richmond county, and to refund the same," reported adversely thereto, which report was agreed to, and said bill rejected.

Mr. Andrews, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act in relation to the powers and duties of the Commissioners of the Central Park," reported that they have made some amendments thereto, and amended the title so as to read as follows: "An act extending the powers and duties of the Commissioners of the Central Park," and as amended, recommend its passage; said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. La Bau, from the committee on engrossed bills, reported as correctly engrossed the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to amend the several acts in relation to Union village, in the County of Washington, and to change the name of said village to Greenwich."

Mr. Pierson, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act for the relief of the Buffalo and Cleveland Transportation Company," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

"An act to provide for the election of three commissioners of highways in the town of West Farms, in the county of Westchester," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on roads and bridges. The Assembly sent for concurrence the following resolution: Resolved, That the concurrent resolution of the Legislature of February, 1866, providing for the publishing of the State Census for 1865, be amended so as to provide that the "usual number" therein mentioned, be distributed as follows, to wit: One copy to each officer and reporter of the present Legislature, and the balance thereof equally among the members of the present Legislature.

On motion of Mr. Andrews and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and the question on the adoption of said resolution was considered.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the adoption of said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Ordered, That the Clerk return said resolution to the Assembly, with a message informing that the Senate have concurred in the passage of the same, without amendment.

Also, the following:

Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That 1,500 copies of the Transactions of the Homœopathic Medical Society of the State of New York, for the year 1867, be printed for the use of said Society.

Ordered, That said resolution be laid on the table.
