On motion of Mr. Sutherland and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to authorize the board of supervisors of the county of Westchester to borrow money on the credit of the county," was recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, with power to report complete.

Mr. Gibson moved that the Senate now adjourn.

On motion of Mr. Campbell and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act in relation to common schools in the city of Utica," was recommitted to the committee on literature, with power to report complete.

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mi. Barnett, from said committee, reported that they have made some amendments to the first named bill, and amended the title so as to read "An act to abolish the office of police justice of the village of Middletown, and in relation to publication of notices," and as amended, recommend its passage, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Barnett, from the same committee, reported progress on the two last named bills, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. Gibson moved that the second named bill be printed.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Pierson and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to create a department of charities and correction in the county of Kings," was referred to the Senators from Kings county, with power to report complete.
