On motion of Mr. Folger and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the First Presbyterian congregation of Penn Yan to increase their number of trustees," was recommitted to the committee on charitable and religious societies, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Humphrey and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act for the relief of Thos. B. Clapp, late overseer of the poor of the town of Mount Morris, and to authorize the board of supervisors of Livingston to hear and pay his claim," was recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

Also, the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend the several acts relating to the village of Geneseo," was recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete.

Mr. Parsons presented two petitions of Daniel Warner and other persons, to repeal the law letting the canals for repairs on contract; which were read and referred to the committee on canals.

Also, a petition of Archibald James and other colored citizens of city of Rochester for relief, so far as the common schools are concerned; which was read and referred to the committee on literature.

Mr. Lent presented a remonstrance against extending Fifth avenue; which was read and referred to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Sessions presented two remonstrances of citizens of Oneida county. against building the Oneida Lake canal on any different line from the old route; which was read and referred to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Barnett presented a petition for restriction upon publicity to the proceedings of courts of law in certain cases; which was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Low stated his dissent, and moved to lay on the table.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to lay on the table, and it was decided in the affirmative.
