Mr. H. C. Murphy moved that when the Senate adjourn to-day, it adjourn until Monday evening, at 7 o'clock.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Gibson asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to authorize the villages of Sandy Hill and Fort Edward, in the county of Washington, to issue bonds to aid in the construction of a railroad from the village of Glens Falls, to intersect the Saratoga and Whitehall railroad, in the village of Fort Edward," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on railroads

By unanimous consent, Mr. T. Murphy, on behalf of Mr. Low, asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act ceding jurisdiction to the United States, to certain lands to be occupied as sites for light houses and keepers' dwellings, within this State," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

On motion of Mr. Lent and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act incorporate Rose Hill Savings Bank,' passed April 17, 1854," was recommitted to the committee on banks, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Campbell and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the trustees of the Waterville Cemetery Association to tax lots in said cemetery," was referred to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Parsons and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Alert Hose Company of the city of Rochester," was recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Gibson and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act in relation to the offices of recorder, assessor, chamberlain and city attorney of the city of Troy," was recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. O'Donnell and by unanimous consent, the rules were *suspended and the bill entitled "An act to confirm the proceedings of the annual town meeting in the town of West Turin, in the county of Lewis, in relation to the burying ground at Constableville, in said town," was recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

Also, the bill entitled "An act to enable the supervisor of the town of Martinsburgh, Lewis county, to convey land, and to enable trustees to hold, sell and convey land for burial purposes, and to improve the same," was recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. H. C. Murphy and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the following entitled bills recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete:

"An act to authorize,the county clerk of Richmond county, to sign the deeds, mortgages or the records of papers recorded and filed in Richmond county clerk's office, which were not signed by the former clerks of said county of Richmond.

"An act to provide for making indices of the deeds, mortgages, writings, documents, maps and so forth, of record in the county of Rich

mond, and for the payment of the cost and expenses thereof, and of the books and materials required for the same.

On motion of Mr. Crowley and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to make the town of Cambria, a part of the first school commissioner's district of Niagara county," was recommitted to the committee on literature, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. T. Murphy and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the New York Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital in the city of New York," was recommitted to the committee on public health and medical societies and colleges, with power to report complete,

On motion of Mr. Sessions and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to confirm the appropriation and sale of certain stone, timber and materials on the Cattaraugus reservation, made by the Seneca Nation of Indians in council, for the purpose of constructing a bridge across the Cattaraugus creek at Versailles, on such reservation, under provisions of chapter 69 of the Laws of 1866," was recommitted to the committee on Indian affairs, with power to report complete.

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

Assembly, "An act to aid in the construction of the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad.”

"An act relating to evidence in criminal prosecutions."

"An act to amend 'An act to provide for the incorporation of religious societies,' passed April 5 1813."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Campbell, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the first named bill, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Campbell, from the same committee, reported in favor of the passage of the two last named bills, without amendment, which report was agreed to and said bills ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Cornell, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Franklin Savings Bank in the city of New York,' passed April 14th, 1860," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. E. Cornell, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the New Rochelle Savings Bank,' passed April 24, 1865,” reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. E. Cornell, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend the 'Act of incorporation of the Ulster county Savings Institution, and the acts amendatory thereof,' passed April 23, 1863," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

On motion of Mr. Humphrey and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to enlarge the powers of the trustees of the village of Wellsville, relative to fire limits and obstructions in the streets," was recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Chambers and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the New Paltz Turnpike Road Company,' passed April 9, 1831," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Crowley, the Senate adjourned.

Mr. Low presented a petition of the European and West Virginia Land and Mining Company, to change their name; which was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Kline presented a petition of citizens of town of Hadley, in Saratoga county, for passage of an act to build a bridge over the Saccaudaga river; which was read and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties.

Mr. Nicks presented a remonstrance of trustees of village of Havana, Schuyler county, against the removal of county site and buildings from Havana to Watkins; which was read and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties.

Mr. E. Cornell presented a petition of citizens of Binghamton, in favor of Binghamton Savings Bank; which was read and referred to the committee on banks.

Also, a remonstrance of trustees of village of Binghamton, against city charter; which was read and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

The President presented a memorial of the chamber of commerce of the State of New York, relative to usury laws which was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary, and ordered printed.

Also, resolutions of the chamber of commerce of the State of New York, relative to piers and wharves; which was laid on the table and ordered printed.

Mr. Gibson presented a petition of East Side Association, to compel the Harlem railroad company to arch over the cut made by said company, north of Fifty-ninth street in New York; which was read and referred to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Wilbor presented a remonstrance of 140 citizens and business men of Rhinebeck, against any interference with the Rhinebeck and Rondout ferry, or rates of fare; which was read and referred to the committee of the whole.

Mr. La Bau, from the committee on engrossed bills, reported as correctly engrossed the bills entitled as follows:
